Tees Tees will receive an application of sulphate of Iron andsulphate of Ammonia at the end of the month to hardenthe grass plant and protect it from any early winterdisease. Select tees will be top-dressed during the month ofOctober to improve the surfaces further and help withrecovery from another very busy season. The par 3’s willreceive extra top-dressing. Fairways Fairways, post seed germination, will receive andapplication of liquid fertiliser, 35:0:0, to help develop thenew grass seedlings. Fairway top-dressing is scheduled for the end ofOctober/beginning of November. This task will bedependent on a suitable window of dry weather. We willaim to complete this task with as little disruption aspossible. Grass Walkways Walkways will be spiked, top-dressed and fertilisedthroughout the month of October. Bunkers The faces of all bunkers will be blow torched to keepthem clean of any unwanted grasses and weeds. The sand levels will be checked in all bunkers and toppedup accordingly to maintain playing quality. Depending on the weather we may also begin somebunker revetment near the end of October. Please referto the Winter Programme of Works Other Divot bags – I would like to thank all members for theircontinued support with the use of divot bags. It has anextremely positive impact on the condition of the links, and Iwould encourage all members to continue with their use of thedivot bags for the season ahead. Pitch marks – can I encourage all members to please repairtheir pitch marks at all times. The winter programme of works will begin during the month ofOctober. During the first two weeks of October, we plan to re-turf both the white 4th tee and the 9th white tee. Pleaseadhere to all directional signage in these areas. Ropes, posts and protection measures will also come intoeffect during October. It is paramount we protect the weakerareas of the course to keep turf quality as high as possible allyear round. Without these measures, coupled with hugevolumes of foot traffic every year, would leave certainproblematic areas unplayable during the winter months. Update regarding the 6th White teeMembers may have noticed that 6th tee not up to standardin recent times. This was caused due to regular maintenancewhereby it was sprayed to kill off the unwanted grass speciesand weeds that grow. As could be seen this had quite aneffect on this particular tee surface. There is no need for concern as the pot seeding which wascarried out is performing well and you will already see a greatimprovement to the surface. Central Carrys Walkways will be spiked, top-dressed and fertilisedthroughout the month of October. Roughs As per the winter programme, rough maintenance workwill commence during the first week of October. Lower Practice area Members are kindlyreminded that ballsshould not be hitfrom the teeing areatowards the chippinggreen. Please adhere to therules of the range atall times when usingthis area.
