THE BALTRAY BULLETIN AUGUST 2024 - BALTRAY BULLETIN EDITION 14Update from the Management Committee Winter Programme Of Works The full planned winter programme of works was communicated in a separate email to members recently. This also included avideo explaining the work to be carried out on the 17th pathway which is the most significant work as part of the programme. Thevideo of the planned work can be viewed by CLICKING HERE and all members are encouraged to go to the documents section ofyour members hub to view the entire document outlining the planned works that will be taking place. Some members have asked why the above work is happening when it was voted against at the AGM in 2023. Although work ishappening in the same area, the work is vastly different. The proposed work which was voted against would have meant a moredrastic change to the slope and would have been much closer to the green complex. Changing the topography of the greensurround and ending in what would be considered a course change. The work planned to be done this coming winter is more to dowith the pathway leading to the 17th tees and the slight change to the very top of the slope will not mean a substantial change tothe course. Pathway Leading to Seapoint Golf Club at back of 17th teeThere are a number of locations around the boundry of the course which have been identified as being a risk to the club due to theease of access. The boundry between Seapoint and County Louth was identified as an area where the club could take action tobetter secure this area and this work has now been carried out. The terrain of the area is now very different having removed thepathways and will take a little time to bed down. Should you be in this area please be mindful of the change to terrain and mindyour step. You will see a photo of this area later in the Bulletin under the course update section. We kindly ask all members to please use the designated main entrance at all times when coming or going to the club. This willsupport better overall security for the club for the benefit of all members. R&A Boys’ Championship in August 2025 The process of forming a Championship Committee in relation to the hosting of the R&A Boys’ Championship in August 2025 hasbegun. A small number of committee members and staff visited Moortown Golf Club on August 13th to view the tournamenthappening live. A meeting was also held with the team in Moortown along with the R&A to get an initial understanding of all that isinvolved in running the tournament. The R&A are still fully focused on completing the events schedule they have ongoing in 2024but will turn their focus to 2025 from October onwards and further more detailed meetings in relation to hosting the tournamentwill then be held. Members will be kept updated with any further developments as preparations come together for the event. Upper Practice Area The transition to using the card payment machine for paying for golf balls on the upper practice area is now complete and wethank all members for your support in using this new facility when availing of balls. We have unfortunately recently lost the use of the machine which is used to push the ball collector around the field and askmembers for your patience while we source a new machine to replace the existing one as it is beyond repair. While we source areplacement machine, for health and safety reason the area will have to be closed for use whilst balls are collected from time totime. We understand this is not ideal but ask for your patience and support whilst we get through this period. Updated Buggy Policy Thank you to all members who have submitted the relevant documentation for the use of a buggy following the updated policybeing communicated. Please be aware that this policy will now be strictly enforced and ask any member that requires the use of abuggy to please submit the required documentation. Clubhouse WorksThe tenders which have been received are being reviewed and members will be fully updated as soon as possible in relation to thecritical upgrade works.
