An email outlining the details of the evening was issued to all members eligible to attend and we wouldencourage any member who is available to come along to ensure that they can get the information required. There will be a SpecialGeneral Meeting taking place after the Information meeting whereby eligible members will be asked to attend and place their vote. Upper Practice Area It is with great pleasure we announce that the grass area will be available for use from Tuesday 7th May. In order to distribute levels ofplay and ensure that the area is presented as best as possible throughout the season, the grass area will be available for use Tuesdays,Wednesdays and Sundays. On all other days of the week the astroturf strip will remain available for use. This is a great new addition formembers to be able to use and we look forward to seeing members enjoy using the area to warm up before a round and work on yourgame on this world class facility. Voicemails in place on club phonelinesAs the season gets busier and there is more demand on the phone lines it can be challenging to get through to the club at times. Thereare now voicemails available whereby you can leave a message if the phone is unanswered when you are trying to get through tosomeone in the club. Please do ensure that you leave your name and phone number when leaving a message so that the relevantmember of staff can get back to you. Securing the clubs boundaries Over the coming weeks and months you may see some work being carried out around the club’s boundaries, this work is being carriedout in order to better secure the club’s premises for health and safety and insurance reasons. There will be no impact to play with anyof the work being carried out and the process will be slow and gradual and carried out by the club’s staff to minimise any costsinvolved in this important work. Update from the Men’s Committee Update on Competitions & Timesheet management Beginning on May 1st:The competition/waiting list timesheet will close at 4pm the day before the competition. If a slot becomes available after4pm members can book by phoning the Pro shop.Removing your name after 4pm can be done by phoning the Pro shop but this will result in your entry fee being forfeited.In the event of a member not showing up to the course for their tee time, the member will be prohibited from playing inany competition for the following 7 days.Competition timesheets are only for those members playing in the competition and not for casual play.All players must play the format of the day until such time as the competition is over. Players not playing in the competition must give way to the competition.For all Semi Open Competitions, Guests will be charged by cash/card and payable to Pro Shop staff, guest fees will notbe charged via the competition purse any longer. PitchmarksThe current rate of pitch marks within our greens surfaces is worrying. In my time at the club, Ihave never seen it this bad. This was also commented on by the R&A during a recent agronomyvisit. Can I please ask all members to play their part in repairing pitch marks on the greens. Greens Greens will receive their 5th top dressing of the season –10 tonnes applied.Greens will receive their 4th wetting agent application ofthe year.Greens to receive an application of chelatediron/seaweed mix and ammonia to encourage growth andadd some colour. The 2nd green will be pot seeded for the 2nd time thisyear. Over recent years we have begun an intensive potseeding programme to further improve the sward andincrease the fescue content of the green. We will aim tocarry out this process at least three times throughout theplaying season.Some localised hand seeding work will take place onselective areas around bunkers, worn areas of fairwaysand some tees during the month of May. (No disruptionto play)Greens will receive their second application of Attraxor.This is a growth regulator which targets Meadow grass(Poa Annua). It discourages the meadow grass fromseeding and tightens the sward refining the surfacefurther. Updates from The Course Committee Surrounds Surrounds to receive an application of iron and ammonia toencourage growth and add some colour.Surrounds will receive their 4th wetting agent application ofthe year. Surrounds will receive their 3rd top dressing of the season – 10tonnes applied.Selective seeding work and localised dressing will take place onsome weaker areas and high traffic areas. Surrounds will receive their second application of Attraxor.This is a growth regulator which targets Meadow grass (PoaAnnua). It discourages the meadow grass from seeding andtightens the sward refining the surface further.The “OUT OF PLAY” areas on the 6th and 7th surrounds willremain in place until growth is sufficient to allow recovery.These areas will be in use from week beginning 13/05/24Tees Tees will be spiked, aerated and pot seeded (20g/m2) to increaseour fescue content on the tee surfaces. Second application of theseasonTees will receive their 4th wetting agent application of the year. Tees will receive their 4th top dressing of the season – 15 tonnesapplied.Tees will receive an application of fertiliser to help encouragegrowth. Sulphate of ammonia and seaweed mix will be applied. Tees will receive their second application of Attraxor. This is agrowth regulator which targets Meadow grass (Poa Annua). Itdiscourages the meadow grass from seeding and tightens the swardrefining the surface further.Fairways Fairways will receive an application of sulphate of iron and sulphateof ammonia to encourage growth and enhance colour.As growth begins to kick in now, general presentation levels willincrease accordingly. The out of play areas, post drainage work, on the 16th fairway willbe back in play from week beginning 13/05/24.Grass Walkways Walkways will be spiked with a 13mm solid tine to relievecompaction.Walkways will be top-dressed and pot seeded for a second time thisyearThe new grass walkways are progressing well. The 4th, 5th, and 8thwalkways have now opened and are in use. The walkway at the 16thtees, 9thtees, and the entry to the 3rd tee and slightly furtherbehind in their progression. These areas will be open for use weekbeginning 13/5/24.Bunkers The faces of all bunkers will be blow torched to keep them clean ofany unwanted grasses and weeds.The tops turf of all revetted bunkers will be top-dressed as an whenrequired to improve smoothness and to encourage the turf toestablish.Localised seeding work around the tops of selected bunkers will becarried out throughout April. CarrysCarrrys to the fairways will be seeded and top-dressed during themonth of May.Course Manager, Wayne Murray reports that the following tasks will be carried out in May.
