If you browse the church library, there is a new three book series on our new book shelfwritten by Gabrielle Meyer. She is a new author in our library but some of you may befamiliar with her. The books are When The Day Comes, In This Moment, and For ALifetime. Ms. Meyer uses history, romance, time travel, faith, and self-sacrifice to buildher stories and catch our interest. Many of you are familiar with Jan Karon. She is the writer of the Mitford Series that hasbeen around for years. Thanks to a donation, we now have some of those books on theshelf. These are interesting stories about the small town of Mitford and Father Tim as heministers to the people. They are so true to small town USA and an easy, fun read. Thereare also a couple of books by her in a series about Father Tim. These are in the fictionsection under the K’s. We are often asked if we accept donations and we certainly do if they are not marked inor written in and if they are no older then 20 years. I know there are older books that aretreasures and we can make exceptions, but due to space limitations we try to keep ourbooks as current as we can.We also take recommendations if you have read a goodChristian book lately that you think others would enjoy reading. We minister to seafarers from over 100 countrieseach year. We provide a safe place for them to get off theship and a place where we can minster to them. We have two ministry centers where seafarers can come and use the internet to contact family, send money home, relax and get away from the ship. While they are at the center weare able to share the Gospel, counsel, and pray with them. We provide these servicesto the crews of the cargo and cruise ships that come to our port. We are also able togive them Bibles in their heart languages. We have 75 different languages on hand.We truly believe that this ministry is the fastest way to the ends of the earth. As theseafarers hear the Gospel and respond, they become instant missionaries bringing theGood News around the world. Results are often hard to measure due to the short time the seafarers are in port andthe relational nature of our ministry. So far this year:335 formal Gospel presentations2 professions of faith3,489 seafarers contacted497 port workers contacted276 ships visited560 Scriptures distributed9
