MENTEE HIGHLIGHTSMENTEE HIGHLIGHTSSheryl Diaz and Luiza AramaSheryl Diaz and Luiza AramaFAVORITE MEMORIES? ACCOMPLISHMENTSSheryl: Throughout the program, I’ve been reminded ofthe importance of stepping out of my comfort zone andseeking advice, which has helped me become moreconfident in reaching out to others. The feedback I’vereceived, especially from my mentorship manager, hasbeen incredibly helpful in guiding me through thementorship experience.Luiza: Throughout the program, I learned that taking"untraditional" career pathways is okay. Almost everyalumna I have heard from (at events/my mentor) agreesthat it is important and easier to rotate in companyfunctions earlier in your career than later. It lets you learnmore about company operations and determine what suitsyou best. This is something to consider, especially if youare unsure what department you would like to specializein, especially as a general business/finance major. Besidesapplying to different kinds of internships/positions,rotational and developmental programs should also beconsidered.SCAVENGER HUNTLEARNING EXPERIENCESSheryl: Being part of ATHENA means being part of asupportive community where I can learn, grow, andconnect with amazing individuals. It has provided mewith a space to keep improving.Luiza: Being part of ATHENA means being part of acommunity of mentees, managers, and mentors whohave experiences to share and are open to helping oneanother out. The program is founded on principles ofcollaboration and creation, which has the potential tobenefit everyone's personal, academic, and professionaljourney. Throughout this process, I have formed newconnections, gained guidance from peers and alumnae, and appreciated everyone's contributions.Sheryl: Lauren and I grabbed coffee together, whichwas a great way to catch up and discuss both ourpersonal and professional lives. Plus, the coffee wasdelicious!Luiza: Some activities I have been able to part-take inwith my mentor, Siovonne, include grabbing coffeetogether, resume review, discussing LinkedIn insights, experiences in different fields of finance, opportunitiesof higher education, tips for being updated with currentevents, and, most importantly, reflecting on goals andachievements. I also appreciated my mentor's stories ofher time at Baruch College as a student and WIBmember.GROWTH & SUCCESS!Sheryl: One of my favorite memories is attending the mentorpanels, where I had the opportunity to ask questions, seefamiliar faces, and gain valuable advice.Luiza: My favorite memory from ATHENA so far has been theopening dinner, where we were all encouraged to be openwith one another and share our goals and expectations of theprogram. The environment was very welcoming and open topersonalization, which I greatly appreciated. I was also ableto meet and talk with other members, which helped mecreate friendships at the start of the semester.Sheryl: My mentor and I have worked together to refine myresume and enhance my LinkedIn profile. These sessions havebeen both productive and motivating, helping me feel moreconfident about my growth and next steps!Luiza: My mentor and I have had the opportunity to discoverdifferent LinkedIn features, analytics, and tools that havegreatly helped me search for internship opportunities and hersearch for company/industry updates. Through this process, Ihave found postings in real-time and learned more about"industry influencers." With increased content/engagement,we both worked on getting more from our experience on theplatform.

M E N T O R S H I P M V PInterview with our VP, Katie: (1) Introduce the member that you would like to highlight.I would like to highlight our MVP: Sanjana Rashid!(2) What do you think this member’s greatest strength is?Taking initiative and being able to come out of her shell. I appreciate howSanjana is always down to help and do more than what is asked of her. (3) How has this member positively impacted the group dynamic or yourwork as a committee? She is always a joy to work with, so the atmosphere is welcoming and fun.Regarding work, she always helps everyone out, making everyone else's jobeasier (including mine). (4) Can you share an example of when this member went above and beyondtheir role? The first time Sanjana went above and beyond was during the TeamBonding event. She created a video without being asked. I loved the videoand how she took the initiative. After that, she continued taking the initiativeand wanted to help.(5) What is something about this member that others might not know butshould? I think people underestimate her (especially Sanjana). This member willcontinue to go far because she is dedicated to her work and has workedhard. Since it is often behind the scenes, people may not know all of herhard work and dedication. (6) What is your favorite memory with this member? None... Kidding! Making TikToks at committee meetings. At first, Sanjanawas shy, but once she opened up, her personality really shined. Sanjana is ajoy; once she opened up, everyone else saw that. Creating TikToks andseeing this side of her made it more comfortable for everyone around her,and it let me get to know her better and continue to see this different side ofher.member spotlight“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with such anamazing committee, where everyone feels more like closefriends than just ‘coworkers.’ Every task I was assignedbecame a chance to learn new skills that I can carry into myfuture career. Thank you to all the committee members fromboth Mentorship and Athena. And, of course, a special thankyou to the best VP, Katie!” - Sanjana Rashid
