In January we once again issued out surveys to sta, vising professionals, residents and their relaves and/or friends. We were pleased once again to see a further increase in the total number of surveys completed although, admiedly, some homes fared beer than others. It goes without saying that the more surveys that are completed the more accurate a picture is formed of how Ashberry is perceived and more importantly, where we need to focus our aenon in our drive for connual improvement. It is vital that all stakeholders have a voice and are listened to.It is fair to say that some of our homes have been presented with recent challenges that were unforeseen. Whilst this was reected in some of the comments and scoring, the overwhelming majority sll suggested that Ashberry is seen as a good place to work and that residents, including their friends and families, would recommend Ashberry as a care home for others. This, of course, is great to hear but we must not and will not get complacent. The results also showed that there are areas that could sll be improved.Whilst generally posive, many sll believe that internal communicaon within the homes could be beer. Whether it be communicaon between teams, communicaon about what is going on within the wider Ashberry group or communicaon between sta and residents (or residents’ families) about their care, it would appear that there is room for signicant improvement.Another area of suggested improvement that was very apparent centred around the amount and quality of the acvies aorded to residents. We must never forget that not only should we be providing physical care and wellbeing but we should also ensure that the mental wellbeing of our residents is also maintained.Of course, there are also variaons in how each individual home is perceived. Each Care Home Manager has been provided with a report on the survey results for their specic home. They have been tasked with reviewing the ndings and comments and asked to provide a plan of how any area of suggested improvement might be addressed which will be regularly reviewed by the Ashberry Directors. We are not only fully commied to providing a level of care that each of our residents deserve, but also commied to our sta, ensuring that they are treated consistently, fairly and with respect. By carrying out these surveys, and more importantly, addressing any areas of concern, we rmly believe that this will support Ashberry Healthcare in its ongoing quest to be seen as both a provider of excellent care and as an employer of choice.Operaons DirectorClaire FryTHAT USA CLOSER LOOK AT ASHBERRY’S ANNUAL SURVEYVoiceShapashberry-care-homes.co.uk | 3SUPPORTING OUR TEAMSAt Ashberry Healthcare, we know that well-trained teams are essenal to delivering safe, eecve and compassionate care. CHARITY & COMMUNITYIn a hearelt display of solidarity and support, Richard at Holmer Court, took part in a sleep-out fundraiser to support UK veterans facing homelessness. On the night of March 25th, Richard swapped the comfort of his bed for a sleeping bag and a simple tarpaulin. With no tent, no heang and no luxuries, he spent the night outside in cold and uncomfortable condions – a deliberate choice to mirror, in part, the harsh realies many veterans endure aer leaving service. This is just one of many charity challenges Richard has taken on over the years. From a 150-mile bike ride from Bournemouth to Brighton to the gruelling ‘Race the Sun’ event - involving cycling, kayaking and mountain climbing - he’s no stranger to pushing himself for a good cause. He’s also completed two long-distance walks for Alzheimer’s charies, covering 70 and 60 miles over two days, and plans to take on another this year.“The idea was to raise awareness and funds for those who’ve served our country but now nd themselves without a home,” Richard explained. “One cold night is nothing compared to what some of these men and women face every day.” With just a plasc tarp and cardboard boxes, he braved the cold without distracons - even encountering a rat during the night. “I felt vulnerable, uncomfortable, and unsure of the me - it really made me appreciate what I have.”By morning, he had raised £270 and lasng awareness for a cause close to his heart. Donaons and support connue to come in, and Richard is already planning his next challenge. Whether it’s for veterans, Alzheimer’s, or mental health, he’s commied to making a dierence.
