TIDES OF TIME HEIDI COFELICE THE END SAMUEL MOBERG If I think hard enough if I focus on my senses I can imagine myself on a subtropical island where everyone knows each other except the crusty old hermit I can feel the sun beat on my body The humid air moisturizes my skin I can smell the salty breeze hear the waves crash in the distance see the seagulls fly overhead feel the burning ground beneath my feet But when I open my eyes and face reality I lose it all But I hold onto one constant force the notion of trickery deceit 3 MECHANICAL FUTURE ANNIE BECKER

KALEIDOSCOPE OLIVIA ZAJAC DREAM GIRL KYRA AMASS wandering edges blurred eyes glassy speech stilted not from this world her voice is made of spider silk sticky like sunday morning syrup sweet like lemon juice left behind on a knife s blade you cannot help but draw closer fascinated captivated like flies to rotten trees she seems to glitter in the sunlight every shard of heartbreak she sees whether she felt it or caused it it makes no difference she absorbs it under her skin like armor pieced together over dark nights and days in cold bright sunshine you cannot hit her where it hurts careful there you don t want to bruise your knuckles lazy afternoons left her lonely open hearts left her bleeding but look at that smile bright and wide as the horizon molded beneath her own hands she s happy now beautiful but only because she designed herself to be 9

MY AFRICA ROGATHE YESSE Oh Africa my Africa a land of beauty and aura Filled with strong and great people with talents that are hidden from the world around From the rolling plains to the vast savannas ancient rivers and the deep blue seas Every heartbeat and every hour echos the rhythm of our ancestry I am an African woman built strong and fearless I stand bold for my Africa treasuring it like the pearls around my neck I hold my culture vastly within wearing it boldly for the world to see Every part of me showcases its beauty echoing the rhythm of our ancestry 18 I see a great Africa of a future bright and strong A tapestry is woven in unity and progress where the seeds we plant today blossom in legacy The future Africa I may not know but it surely will be the Africa I dream of

MOUNTAIN MONOPRINTS SAM BATES WHISTLER S RUSH SIENA KASSMEL Powder slides as I carve and glide Chutes drop steep a daring ride Winds blow high up on the mountain top I chase the rush as I take the drop Edges cut the snow so white Do not ask why it is pure delight Speed and snow are the perfect two Whistler s rush pulls me through TATTOO SAM BATES THE BIRD ANNIE BECKER keep reaching keep soaring keep the dream follow its beam for each time the bird plummets they grow closer to their summit the dreams that we reach for the birds that once soar the sky that now breaks the eventual fall that creates PIECES OF NATURE ANNIE BECKER 20 a wish to only succeed becoming a dream to purely breathe without a dive the bird cannot fly without a fall one fails to live at all
