TIDES OF TIME HEIDI COFELICE THE END SAMUEL MOBERG If I think hard enough if I focus on my senses I can imagine myself on a subtropical island where everyone knows each other except the crusty old hermit I can feel the sun beat on my body The humid air moisturizes my skin I can smell the salty breeze hear the waves crash in the distance see the seagulls fly overhead feel the burning ground beneath my feet But when I open my eyes and face reality I lose it all But I hold onto one constant force the notion of trickery deceit 3 MECHANICAL FUTURE ANNIE BECKER

AUGUST 19 ADDIE CHESTER What I remember about that day It was the end of summer We spent three months together Swimming in the clear waters where time was steady Flying over fields that never stirred Singing along to songs with connections to the lyrics You never had to leave Nothing about it not being a dream Nothing about not seeing you for another three months 7 AN AMBIENT FRIEND ELILTA KLOEHN

KALEIDOSCOPE OLIVIA ZAJAC DREAM GIRL KYRA AMASS wandering edges blurred eyes glassy speech stilted not from this world her voice is made of spider silk sticky like sunday morning syrup sweet like lemon juice left behind on a knife s blade you cannot help but draw closer fascinated captivated like flies to rotten trees she seems to glitter in the sunlight every shard of heartbreak she sees whether she felt it or caused it it makes no difference she absorbs it under her skin like armor pieced together over dark nights and days in cold bright sunshine you cannot hit her where it hurts careful there you don t want to bruise your knuckles lazy afternoons left her lonely open hearts left her bleeding but look at that smile bright and wide as the horizon molded beneath her own hands she s happy now beautiful but only because she designed herself to be 9

MAY 13 MEMORY ADDIE CHESTER What I remember about that day The sky was gray with nimbostratus clouds It s with a heavy heart I have to say goodbye The past was fun but not real You can do so much better The blame is on four hands The sky was blue without a cloud in sight Nothing about us was saved Nothing about the future changed VIOLET SOLSTICE VIRGINIA BARROS STARRY HARVEST LUCIANA BARROS 13
THE REALM OF DREAMS SHAEFFER DODDS In the realm where the waking world is not Where the mind runs freely through endless dark Where you cannot contain a single thought Where hope runs wild free from guiding mark Upon which the mountains stand higher still And oceans roar with the might of many Ideas left in solitary will Not bound to the restrictions of any Here do I rest in fields of quiet peace Or dream of heights never explored before Upon where aspirations never cease And all the world lies open to explore But quicker fading than that of spring snow All that remains is yours alone to know SHATTERED HEIDI COFELICE 14 PRAYER IN MOTION OLIVIA ZAJAC

THE PERFECT DAY MASON DARNALL What I remember about that day I got to taste real freedom My surroundings blurred together as they went by in a flash But I myself was as calm as a stream The car and I were one almost welded together The crowds cheered and the checkered flag was raised Existing at the top of the podium with my name etched in history Nothing About my injury Nothing about the day that never was SUNSET RIDE RYAN LYLE HORIZONS OF HOPE OWEN LADD THE DREAMER SCARLET ACKERMAN 16 Our wildest dreams are our true dreams Wildest ambitions soar like birds in the sky Dreams ignite flames in the darkest of nights are visions of who we re meant to be Our purpose guides through uncharted waters True passion fuels a fire that never fades Dreams become reality when we believe

MY AFRICA ROGATHE YESSE Oh Africa my Africa a land of beauty and aura Filled with strong and great people with talents that are hidden from the world around From the rolling plains to the vast savannas ancient rivers and the deep blue seas Every heartbeat and every hour echos the rhythm of our ancestry I am an African woman built strong and fearless I stand bold for my Africa treasuring it like the pearls around my neck I hold my culture vastly within wearing it boldly for the world to see Every part of me showcases its beauty echoing the rhythm of our ancestry 18 I see a great Africa of a future bright and strong A tapestry is woven in unity and progress where the seeds we plant today blossom in legacy The future Africa I may not know but it surely will be the Africa I dream of

REVERIE REESE MCCOMMONS SAVANNA SALYER PLAGUE ME HAUNTED DREAMS ANONYMOUS You come to haunt me when it s silent When the snowy streets lay dark I see you vaguely through the fog like a green light beaconing across a bay You come to me the way I hoped you always would Voice a soft breeze against my ear I m right here you whisper tickling at my soul A bud of hope of peace of joy Blowing away the sorrow like the autumn leaves of September 18 Carving out the remorse the way we carved smiles into pumpkins in October Breaking through the chains like the vices of November You smile at me and your eyes shine Just like the fish in the river we floated down this summer Unknowingly about to get caught Yet your eyes go past me to the girl through the window The very same window and very same eyes of years past Only the visage is blurred The girl changes and I stand outside Pounding on the glass shards breaking off with each bang I reach out to feel the warmth of your cheek The same cheek on which tears flowed as you left I reach out to stroke my hands through your hair The same hair you stopped cutting after you left I reach out for your hands the ones that pulled me into the light When the cloche threatened to close before you left I lean in for your lips The ones kissed me once more Salty tears tainting your breath as you left But I never reach them I fall through Falling Spinning Spinning like I did when I walked out of your car and into my harsh new reality The seasons changing to winter Faster than the tears could freeze on my face Air cold goosebumps dotting my skin The touches the smiles the laughter So real I could reach out and touch them And yet they re gone Gone Nothing but a dream You come and haunt me in the silence Yet the old aunties around the dinner table Tell me it s a sign of your thoughts ensnaring my mind and capturing my soul from miles away So as I lay in a blanket warmer than the cheeks I once kissed I can t help but question If you think of me every time you haunt my dreams Val 21

LIFE IS BUT A DREAM HEIDI COFELICE AK NORTHERN LIGHTS TA KORHMANN ONCE UPON A DREAM CECELIA NOWICKI I know you I walked with you once upon a dream We danced on floors of marble I wore a dress made of stars We walked through the forest of a world that was only ours I know you that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam We flew on magic carpets in the sky I felt so loved so free We were so perfect just you and me I know its true that visions are seldom what they seem We became something new I was happy just to have you near We gazed up at the stars on a night so clear I soon will wake and find this was all a dream We will be strangers yet again I return to my solemn reality We were never truly meant to be But if I know you I know what you ll do You ll love me at once The way you did once upon a dream 23
DRENCHED IN GOLD SAM BATES SUMMER RADIJE SAMMOUR BRITO The sun spills gold across the sky As breezes whisper warm and shy A gentle song the trees all sway A perfect endless summer day Barefoot walks on grassy lanes Crisp air dances through the plains The ocean sings its salty song Where waves and laughter both belong A season s magic happy and free Where hearts feel light and spirits see These days we come to know The warmth of life in summer s glow 24
