A SPEQ is a Quality Check visit, which must be conducted one-on-one, at least once every five months. After completing anduploading it to FPQ, your subsequent visit will automatically bescheduled for five months from the date of the previous one, actingas a reminder. This emphasises the significance of real-timeuploading and submission on the day of the visit.A guide on how the reminder is added to your calendar will beprovided.A minimum of 2 visit each calendar year withno longer than 5 months between visits.These visits are mandatory to ensure that theengineers' equipment is up-to-date and ingood working order, and that the engineerdemonstrates and adheres to all health andsafety guidelines *This is a legal requirement*Area Manager’s SPEQ visit process.TimelineAs the AM, your responsibility is to arrange the visit and contact theengineer on Day-1. During this call, you'll inform the engineer that afull-day SPEQ is scheduled for the following day and agree on ameeting point for the first job in the morning.The expected duration of a SPEQ is designed to allocate a full day tothe specific engineer based on their requirements andperformance. This timeframe encompasses both the visit itself andthe logging of the visit on the same day onto FPQ.

Advise the engineer on the following points:Fluids to be checked. Tyres to be inspected for tread depth. (below legal limit couldincur charges)Lights and beacons to be confirmed as working (Engineer willneed to assist with rear lights)Check for damage to bodywork, windscreen, and mirrors. Any defects must be reported to Fleet immediately andappropriate action taken (i.e., Taken to have tyres/bulbs etcreplaced)Any damage must be reported to fleet immediately with photosand Fleet will advise if the vehicle is roadworthy.Check the cleanliness inside and out.Ensure a No Smoking sign is present in the Cab.Visual checks on Harness, Belt, Lanyard and safe climb equipmentLook for webbing damage, fraying and contamination.Check Karabiner and Mauchroch and all lengths of ladder strap.Check issue date and manufacture date.Check where the items are stowed within the vehicle.All checks passed, then proceed to add next inspection due datefor 6 months’ time, (this falls in line with the legal requirement;however, expectation will be to inspect the equipment in 5months’ time).Any defects then the equipment must be decommissioned andreplaced, and engineer not planned for any OH tasks.Vehicle InspectionEquipment InspectionSPEQ – Safety

Has the engineer been able to demonstrate a safe climb at both poleand house end?Pre climb checks.Interpret pole markings and labels.Attached a pre climb label. Provided satisfactory levels of labels invan stock.Demonstrated safe climb techniques using CSS at both house andpole end.Understands the positive reasons for demonstrating and utilisingall safe climb techniques at all times. Aware of the consequences of non-conformance to any H&Sfailings.Any of the above fall short of expectation then the engineer is to beremoved from deployment until an in-field re-accreditation can becompleted in the first instance.ClimbingSPEQ – Safety

Detailed run through the engineer’s performance usingappropriate MIS and Power BI.OTD performance, ELF, RR, ToC, CSAT, Candids and Quality.Run through any of briefings that have been sent out, specificallyH&S and those needing a SWAY to be completed.Discuss engineer’s attendance and reliability, addressing any issuesor concerns.Ask the engineer if they have any concerns about anything workrelated or personal.Speak about progression and opportunities that may be of interest.Encourage them to come forward with ideas of how we couldimprove their work environment or day to day.Are they presentable, clean, tidy and wearing MJQ corporateclothing?Engineer Performance discussion& Welfare check.SPEQ – Performance & Engineer

Did they call ahead, introduce themselves and fully explain whothey were coming on behalf of and set expectations.Did they present their ID badge?Did they ask if the customer had received the MJQ customerservice video (FTTP)?If ‘No’, did they ask if they would like to view it?Were overshoes used before entering the property?Was the install explained thoroughly and work agreed with thecustomer?Did they use the stud detector and explain why to the customer?Use dust sheets and clean up after themselves.Has the engineer taken photos of the process that is valid to thejob (Light reading, NCF joints, ETC)If leaving the property, they advised the customer for how long andwhat for.Upon completion of work, did the engineer carry out acomprehensive walk around the job explaining what work carriedout. i.e., cable route, CSP location, worksite tidied.Test and demonstrate or fully explain why the service will not beworking.Ask the customer if they are completely satisfied with the work.In progress customer interfaceSPEQ - QualityTake photos of the H&S equipment and vehicle, showing theconditions.Take photos of climb, both house and pole endTake photos of SLG set up.Digital Evidence

Immediately following the SPEQ, it ismandatory for the area manager to upload allgathered information, along with supportingdigital evidence, onto the FPQ system andsubmit it. This upload must be completed onthe same day as the SPEQ.**Please note that no personal details are to beuploaded to FPQ**
