To rectify this, approximately 60 body panels had to be modified to fit the V12. All 1993/4MY XJ40s benefit from the revised body style, but those fitted with a V12 engine are code named XJ81, being either Jaguar XJ12 or Daimler Double Six.The 6.0 litre V12 was derived from Jaguar’s long-serving all aluminium alloy 5.3 litre V12 which had undergone detailed modifications to further enhance its reputation for providing exceptional power and refinement. Maximum power increased by 22% to 318bhp at 5400rpm and peak torque was up by 23% to 342lb ft at 3750rpm. Acceleration from a standing start and maximum speed were dramatic and re-established Jaguar’s competitiveness as a manufacturer of some of the world’s fastest luxury saloons. The larger GM 4L80-E four-speed transmission improved take-off power, mid-range performance An unrepeatable opportunity for a perfect XJ81. THE V12 XJ40Land downshift response.The XJ12, as distinct from the Daimler Double Six, can be distinguished by a number of unique features, including; black grille vanes, sports coachlines, a gold grille badge and forged 8 x 16 inch lattice alloy wheels. An early running change was to replace the stainless steel side window frames, B/C and D/E posts with a matt black finish. It was designed to appeal to the driving enthusiast. Chassis strengthening modifications, an uprated braking system and enhanced sports suspension ensured class-leading high standards of ride quality and handling capability.L276WJR - 1993 JAGUAR XJ12“WJR” is well known in Jaguar circles and recognised as one of the best original, unrestored examples of this rare model. This XJ81 has been in my partner Rob’s collection for 24 years and, having wanted for nothing, has accumulated a huge history file, including MoT’s, later ones being available for checking online!Finished in Regency Red with Doeskin leather interior, this immaculate example has now covered 77,736 miles and will be sold with a fresh MoT.Features include sunroof, CD changer and lattice alloy wheels, in addition to the normal high specification of this flagship model of its time! Everything is present and correct, including: keys, remote fobs, toolkit, full size spare, jack and tools, plus all book packs and service books.“WJR” is stored in an air chamber, used only during dry conditions, and benefits from a recent service with David Marks of Nottingham.
