COMMUNITY MANAGEMENT Dear Members As I reported last month Bob Davis our Comptroller has retired and as of this edition Valerie Funk has been added to our staff as our new Comptroller Valerie has years of accounting experience including 10 where she served Peridia Country Club as their accountant Most recently Valerie served two communities in Orlando under a property management firm She was anxious to return to a self managed community and we are happy to have her Valerie began March 28 In other personnel news Hunter Dennis our Communications Manager has decided to take a position much closer to home with the added flexibility of full time remote working Hunter did a great job orchestrating our communications and leaves us with much more functionality and ease of usage We wish him much luck The search for Hunter s replacement has already begun Finally Ben Lacina our assistant in maintenance has found a position in his field as a new graduate We congratulate him along with Jasime Morales as they move into their respective fields and someday we will be able to say we knew them when I am happy to share that the first News from the Board communication email received a 72 open rate with over 700 members opening the email Thank you for your interest and we will keep the news flowing Please note that there has been a change in future Board meeting dates Unless otherwise noted the Board meetings will be held on the fourth Tuesday of each month This change makes our next Board meeting Tuesday April 26 at 2 00 p m Our recent member survey indicated a desire by some members to attend an evening Board of Directors meeting Due to this request please mark your calendars for Tuesday May 24 at 6 00 p m and plan to attend the May Board Meeting Did you know that there are eight Waterlefe Organizations Everything from the Waterlefe Artists Guild to the Waterlefe Watering Hole there is something for everyone As if that s not enough to keep you busy did you know there are also at least eleven activities you can be involved in Sounds like living in Waterlefe is like living on a cruise ship you simply have to get involved For a list of Organizations or Activities and their contacts please contact the MPOA offices or find them on the website Wow can you believe this season is almost over The fun times always go by quickly don t they But it s not over yet and April has many events scheduled I look forward to seeing everyone for our strong finish to the season On a more somber note the CDD Golf Club is losing Janice Reed to retirement Janice came to Waterlefe in 2013 with a sales background and played a significant role in the growth of membership and rounds Her experience coupled with her vibrant personality made her the perfect fit for the job During her almost 10 years Janice accomplished many things She developed the current membership categories that include Junior and Senior memberships a popular summer golf program the annual member appreciation event gifts the Golfer s Glance and much more On the marketing side she brought awareness to the club and community with signage along Upper Manatee River Road promotional videos many print publications and a banner at LECOM Park However I see her biggest accomplishment being the relationships with golf members and residents that she built over the years Waterlefe will definitely not be quite as whole when she retires Janice s last day will be Friday April 15th and the club is welcoming everyone to join us in saying happy retirement following the Member Management Scramble on Monday April 11th Respectfully Steve Dietz CDD General Manager Until May see you around Susan Greene MPOA General Manager COO 2 Lefe Life April 2022 Community Management 3
