Appleton Kids Fun Runs provide children ages 2-12 an opportunity to participate in an encouraging race open to all levels & abilities. Supervision will be provided, but instruction is not. Children’s Week provides seven fun-filled days for children and their families to make lasting memories while engaging in free or reduced-cost recreational activities throughout the City of Appleton. 920-832-59057Youth ProgramsSUMMER PLAYGROUND PROGRAM Did you know that the Playground Program got its start during the World War II era and has been a staple program serving thousands of youth in the City of Appleton ever since? Our goal with this program is to keep the youth in our community active, while creating lasting friendships, enjoying positive social interactions, and connecting with nature. We will have 2-3 qualified leaders at each of our eleven sites ready to create an interactive and enjoyable summer for your child. Youth ages 6-13 are welcome to attend on a drop-in basis. A $25 registration fee is required prior to participating and pays for the entire summer. Throughout the summer, participants will take part in a variety of sports, large and small group games, special events, trips, creative crafts, and much more. Skateboarding develops muscles, balance, and coordination through continued movement and can be as safe as riding a bike. Your child’s skateboarding experience will consist of learning skills and tricks, skate-a-long time with experienced skaters, and supervised free skate time with other children. We maintain a ratio of one instructor to four participants. Participants must bring their own helmet & skateboard. 920-832-590510Youth Programs BIKE RODEOS Our Bike Rodeos will help your child learn, at their level, the basic skills needed to bike more safely on the road. Stations will include looking back without swerving, breaking techniques, riding straight while missing hazards, and crossing busy streets safely. Skills testing will take place at the completion of each bike rodeo for those looking to register for Urban Riders. REGISTRATION: Pre-registration is required.
