Seeking new ways to improve the learning experience Antares Microsoft and the University of New South Wales partnered to deliver Dr David Kellermann s engineering course through Microsoft Teams to over 500 students However the large amount of collaboration through Teams channels produced an overwhelming number of questions To address this Antares developed QBot a bot based on Microsoft s Cognitive Services platform that integrates AI capabilities into Teams QBot can learn and answer complex questions on behalf of tutors and continues to receive enhancements such as QR code recognition and video link answers Initially part of a trial for the School of Mechanical Engineering QBot is now integrated into the aleX platform which also includes Learning Analytics and a Provisioning Engine transforming the teaching and learning experience The implementation saved educators time improved response quality and personalised learning experiences Initial results showed increased collaboration a 99 student satisfaction score and a significant rise in pass rates from 65 to 85 The successful collaboration has demonstrated the potential for these technologies to benefit educational institutions worldwide Dr David Kellermann Lecturer at UNSW Sydney To meet the unique needs of students and lecturers at the University of New South Wales Microsoft invited Antares a part of the Cloud Collective to develop a custom world first AI infused chatbot built into Microsoft Teams that answers student questions
Building a Digital Learning Community With aleX In response to the COVID 19 pandemic a tertiary institution in Singapore partnered with Antares to implement the Adaptive Learning Experience aleX built on Microsoft Teams to enhance remote learning Despite being prepared for at home learning the institution faced challenges with student and faculty engagement aleX featuring the AI powered QBot and a powerful analytics engine addressed these issues by automating responses to common questions providing tailored recommendations and fostering a sense of connectedness This led to over 107 000 interactions on Teams with 62 between students and 3 700 questions answered by QBot in one semester The institution observed increased student engagement improved faculty efficiency and a richer online learning community resulting in higher student retention and performance This success has encouraged the institution to expand aleX throughout the campus
