1 | 2024 Annual Report The YearThe YearThe Year in Reviewin Reviewin ReviewIn 2024, Jeremiah’s Inn wholeheartedlyresponded to the urgent concerns ofsubstance use disorder and food insecurity.We could not meet these challenges withoutthe support of our grassroots network ofcommunity supporters and donors! Thankyou for your continued support of Jeremiah’sInn and all we do! Our nutrition center provided essentialemergency food support to householdsstruggling with food insecurity throughout ayear of rising costs. Thanks to grants fromClark University, Bank of America, St. FrancisCommunity Healthcare, and others, wedistributed 398,784 lbs. of food to 32,222individuals and expanded our footprint as anemergency food resource for local collegesand universities. We additionally participatedin local advocacy efforts to expand nutritionalaccess in the Worcester community, including coalition meetings with the Center on Food Equity, Greater Health Worcester, and Project Bread. Theseessential collaborations ensure the voices of our clients and participants are heard in determiningnutritional equity and access.
2 | 2024 Annual Report In our residential program, we responded to increased need and clinical severity among thosestruggling with substance use disorder. We finished 2024 with a 69% completion rate, a significantimprovement over our 2023 rate, which represents more recovering individuals returning toproductive lives and loving families. We completed a redesign of our treatment planning andtiering process, ensuring our program works collaboratively with our residents to build a strongrecovery foundation. We began new community partnerships with Tech Goes Home (TGH),Arbour Counseling, and The Gavin Foundation, essential supports that connect our residents to technology access, therapeutic support, and recovery coaching services.We also carried out numerous facility improvement projects. Using generous grants from theAgnes M. Lindsay Trust and the M&T Charitable Foundation, we were able to install new industrial-grade flooring and furniture throughout the building that will support our residents for years tocome. At our sober house, we completed our first full year of services and maintained over 90%occupancy throughout the year. We secured a $186,000 grant through the City of Worcester fromThe American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) for upgrades and repairs we hope to complete in 2025.

Shealso plans our annual deep sea fishing and Six Flags trips, and is always thefirst to step up for food drives or awareness events.A true team player and beloved colleague, she brings passion, organization,and heart to everything she does. 4 | 2024 Annual Report Community CollaboratorsCommunity CollaboratorsThe mission of our recovery programs is strengthened by the invaluable support of our communitypartners. Their contributions, expertise, and shared commitment allowed us to expand our reach andimpact, ensuring we can offer comprehensive care, essential resources, and multiple pathways torecovery.In 2024, we began working with The Gavin Foundation, asubstance use treatment organization that offers recoverycoaching services throughout Massachusetts. Recoverycoaches are individuals with lived recovery experience whowork collaboratively with our residents towards supportiverecovery goals. This might include going with them to a 12-Step meeting, transporting them to a doctor’s or legalappointment, or assisting them with applications. The Gavin Foundation recovery coaches have been an essential resource in connecting our residentsto community services, and the rapport they build with each resident serves as a foundationalrecovery support that can remain with them after completing our program. We look forward toworking with them further.for our residents, who frequently have co-occurring medical and behavioral health concerns theyare looking to address while in treatment. Having a trusted resource that will work closely with usto help us determine the best treatment for our patients is crucial to their success. We are gratefulfor their partnership as we work jointly to facilitate the continued health and wellbeing of ourresidents. For several years we have worked with Edward M.Kennedy (EMK) Community Health Center forintegrated medical and behavioral health services.EMK offers comprehensive medical, dental,therapeutic, and psychiatric care that our residentsare able to maintain following program completion. Their collaborative approach is highly beneficial
Recovery ProgramsRecovery Programs ResponseResponseResidential Program Redesigned our tiering and treatment planningprocesses, ensuring our clinical services meet thechanging needs of our residents.Launched our alumni tracking survey, assessingcontinued progress and recovery engagement atone, three, and six months, and one-year post-completion. Joined the Executive Committee for StatewideRecovery Homes Collaborative, a coalition thatallows us to directly advocate on behalf of ourresidents at the statewide level.Completed remodeling of our conference room,installed new floors throughout the building andinstalled new industrial-grade furniture in residentbedrooms. Participated in UMass Memorial’s designdays as an expert on food insecurity inthe Main South community to assistUMass in developing new strategicefforts in battling the systemic causes offood insecurity. Nutrition and Resource Education A community resource and SupplementalNutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) Navigatorfrom Worcester Community Action Council(WCAC) visited bi-monthly to assist guests withHealthy Incentive Program (HIP), and SNAPapplications. The University of Massachusetts-Amherst’sExtension Nutrition Education Program visitedthroughout the summer offering guest’sinformation on SNAP, healthy eating, tips onhow to stretch SNAP and HIP dollars, as well asprovide healthy and affordable recipes. As we began to see a decreasein donations from the Worcester County Food Bank andother sources, Market 32 truly stepped up. Theirconsistent generosity ensured that our guests continuedto have access to fresh, high-quality food choices, even during challenging times. Over the past year, theyhave donated thousands of pounds of fresh produce, meat, milk, and non-perishable food items. Theirpartnership has made a real difference in the lives of so many. Thank you, Market 32, for yourcommitment to fighting food insecurity and supporting our mission — we’re grateful to have you on ourteam! We’re thrilled to shine a spotlight on Overlook Farm, acommunity partner deeply rooted in food justice,education, and sustainability. Now in their fourth year ofgrowing food and offering experiential learningprograms, Overlook Farm donates hundreds of pounds of fresh produce to Jeremiah’s Inn each season. Their commitment doesn’t stop there — they also host volunteer days for our residents and staff,helping us connect with the land, our food, and each other. Through their generosity and hands-onsupport, Overlook Farm continues to nourish both body and spirit. We’re so grateful for theirpartnership and everything they do to cultivate a stronger, healthier community.
