FAMILY PROMISE OF WARREN COUNTY WAS AWARDED 15 000 00 IN WNBC WNJU PROJECT INNOVATION FUNDING TO GROW THE HOMELESS RAPID RESOLUTION CASE MANAGEMENT COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM AND FURTHER SERVE THE COMMUNITY 1 of 10 Tri State grant winners selected from more than 500 applications Oxford New Jersey July 13 2022 Family Promise of Warren County Inc was awarded 15 000 00 in funding through the 2022 WNBC WNJU Project Innovation grant challenge Winners of this highly competitive contest have established innovative and effective programming serving the community in the areas of community engagement culture of inclusion next generation storytelling and youth education and empowerment This funding will allow us to provide critical case management services to keep families and individuals stably housed and together while also engaging the community and citizens of Warren County in developing a permanent homeless shelter in the County The County does not have a shelter at this critical time when evictions are at unprecedented levels This is especially important for Warren County where the eviction rate is higher than neighboring counties and per the latest statistics even higher than the national average for evictions said Bob Frankenfield Executive Director of Family Promise of Warren County Inc https evictionlab org https evictionlab org map m modeled c p b tr s all r states y 2018 z 2 00 lat 55 08 lon 154 34 lang en l 34041_ 74 99_40 84 7E34019_ 74 95_40 56 7E34037_74 68_41 13 Family Promise of Warren County Inc was one of the ten grant winners announced in this year s TriState competition and chosen from more than 500 applications Family Promise of Warren County FPWC services homeless individuals and families or those in danger of becoming homeless The housing and basic needs FPWC provides are the most fundamental necessities and affect all aspects of well being Our Rapid Resolution Homeless Assistance assists people in need of housing services to avoid shelter entry or resolve homelessness with a reduced stay in an emergency shelter Throughout the COVID 19 crisis these needs have been further exasperated A necessary new element is our community Volunteer engagement project necessary in our development of a homeless shelter currently nonexistent in the County This Rapid Resolution Homeless Assistance and accompanying shelter development community engagement funding attained through the WNBC WNJU Project Innovation competitive grant challenge will keep residents safe together and stably housed Our goal is for participants to become housed within 30 days of seeking assistance and to not return to homelessness within a year Without our services and community engagement for a shelter families would go without services and end up homeless In 2021 this small but scrappy staff helped 80 residents with homeless prevention and another 86 with homeless rehousing services moving them to safe affordable housing Based on our recent Comcast call volume records and increased demand for service we anticipate those numbers to increase significantly in 2022 Challenges were apparent with the hiatus of our rotational shelter program and absence of volunteers because of the pandemic which underscores the need for our development of a fixed homeless shelter to better serve this community This is the fifth consecutive year that WNBC WNJU and the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation awarded
