WELCOME TO POSNA 2019 With our local co hosts Brian Brighton MD and his wife Erin Brighton and Virginia Casey and her husband Kevin Casey Steve and I welcome you to Charlotte for the 2019 POSNA Annual Meeting We are so happy that this meeting is being held in such an eclectic and fun locale The meeting will be at the Charlotte Convention Center in Centery City This program will give you some of the information you need to explore Charlotte The meeting begins Wednesday at 6 30 pm with the opening ceremony and reception Please join us for Howard Steel Lecture Our speaker Mr Evan Smith Chief Executive Officer of The Texas Tribune will present The Future is Texas Unless We Screw It Up A cocktail welcome reception will follow from 8 00 to 9 30 pm I will update this information The accompanying breakfast will be held Thursday through Saturday mornings from 8 00 am 9 00 am at the convention center in room room is TBD This year we are offering a free afternoon outdoor recess on Thursday afternoon There will be no educational sessions scheduled this afternoon giving attendees and their guests time to explore Charlotte NC The Friday morning scientific session will include the basic science and clinical awards papers The distinguished achievement award will begin at 10 15 AM where Perry Schoenecker will be honored during this time Peter Waters MD is the 2019 Presidential Speaker Accompanying persons are welcome to attend during this time The times for these are highlighted in the program at a glance The Friday Closing Reception will be at the NASCAR Hall of Fame which is conveniently located in Uptown Charlotte across the street from the Convention Center The NASCAR Hall of Fame is an interactive entertainment attraction honoring the history and heritage of NASCAR The high tech venue designed to educate and entertain race fans and non fans alike through its artifacts hands on exhibits state of the art theater and the Hall of Honor The goal of the facility is to honor NASCAR icons and create an enduring tribute to the drivers crew members team owners and others that have impacted the sport in the past present and future Attire Dress for a day at the NASCAR track Casual attire including casual collared shirts tops jeans cotton dresses and baseball hats are encouraged The Program at a Glance which includes information on Austin and the social events will help guide you through the week We look forward to seeing you in Charlotte Lisa Frick 1 1
