10Raider football COACHING staffRaider football COACHING staffI graduated high school from Shelby Academy in 1999. I was proud to play QB on my father, DeWayne Kervin’s, first ever State Championship team in 1998. I was born and raised on the fields and the halls of Shelby Academy. Upon graduation, I signed a baseball scholarship and played baseball at Jefferson State CC for two years. I continued and finished my playing career at the U. of Montevallo. I began my coaching career at Shelby Academy. I had the pleasure of coaching my brother to a state Runner Up and a Semi Final appearance in back to back years. From there, I got the WR job at Calera HS. My second year, I was promoted to OC. We took that team to the Semi Finals, which is still the deepest playoff run in history. After 2 years at Calera, I became the RB coach at Hoover HS. During my 12 years at Hoover, five as OC, we were part of 6 State Championships, three Runner Ups, two Semi Finals and 1 National Championship. I am proud to say that during my twelve years coaching running backs at Hoover that we helped 16 sign scholarships and play at the next level. I also coached four Under Armour All Americans. I also had the honor and privilege of coaching in the Alabama/Mississippi All Star Game. I am supported by my wife of 13 years, Kristin. Together we have four beautiful children, Parker (10), Claire (9), Kylie (5) Cooper (3). We are proud citizens of Alpharetta and are thankful to be a part of this special community. Go Raiders!
