49th Annual Meeting & ExpositionMasterIng LInkedIn & YourProfessIonal IdentItYSunday, August 1Monday, August 2 For a person that is “social media dumb”(like me!) it was a great session to attend. John offered the attendees two challenges:(1) To connect, via LinkedIn, with at least 3-4 AHRA members per day and threevendors, and (2) to take and post picturesof your time in Nashville using #AHRA2021in the story. This is a great way to buildyour brand and connect with many like-minded people. Five areas that werediscussed about ways to better utilizeLinkedIn:1. Why use LinkedIn?One of the biggest reasons of usingLinkedIn is that it allows you to expandyour job opportunities outside yourgeographic area. Research has found that97% of Fortune 500 companies useLinkedIn for recruiting and sourcing talent. An interesting fact is that LinkedIn is theoldest of the major social media networks, starting nine months before Facebook. By: Jason Scott, MBA CRA FAHRA CPXP RT(R)(MR)2. Grow Your LinkedIn NetworkKeep your posts and comments professional. Johnsuggested that you stay away from any anger ornegativity, to engage in content that makes youthink. In order to build your network, type a shortgreeting about why you want to connect withthem, instead of connecting blindly.3. Engage with Content on LinkedInWith LinkedIn, you get five lines to grab theattention of your audience, three lines if you addan image, and less lines than that if you use themobile app. John recommends to keep thecontent short and to the point.4. Create your Profile on LinkedInMake sure you profile is complete and current.Your profile attracts employers. It should have aphoto, a headline, a summary of your skills, andyour job title/institution. John spoke about ways topersonalize your URL on LinkedIn in order to havea more effective profile. 5. Leverage the Free Tools on LinkedInUse it to search for jobs, save articles, apply forjobs, etc. John mentioned that the three dots atthe bottom of the LinkedIn page is beneficial.Know the three dots and how to use them. Good luck connecting…and don’t forget the twochallenges!3 | Convention Daily The first day of the 2021AHRA Annual Meeting, Ihad the pleasure ofattending John Beall’spresentation titled,“Mastering LinkedIn andYour ProfessionalIdentity.”

49th Annual Meeting & ExpositionMonday, August 24| Convention Daily In 2009, I went to Disney World for the first time. Iremember having that "this just feels right"excitement as I met fellow vacationers from acrossthe country and engaged with enthusiastic staffmembers who were more than willing to ensure myexperience was memorable and rewarding. Today, Igot to relive that feeling of overwhelming excitementas I spoke with fellow radiology professionals duringthe First-Timers & New Member Reception. I was amazed at how humble and personable thesehospital CEOs and radiology directors were and howexcited they were to be among their peers. Thewelcoming smiles from AHRA staff and volunteers, partner exhibitioners, and event staff further addedto the magic of the reception. I met military veteranswho, like myself, were apprehensive about fitting in.Yet, we all were fully embraced by fellow attendeeswhile exchanging fist bumps, high fives, and businesscards. I'm So ExcIted!By: Vaughn EasonBeing greeted by AHRA President Jacqui Rosewas just as awe-inspiring as meeting mylong-time (online) mentor, John Beall. Thisexperience has me energized and ready tobegin tomorrow's sessions and exhibitions, knowing I get to interact with and learn fromfellow radiology professionals. I'm remindedof the chorus to the 1982 song "So Excited"by The Pointer Sisters. I'm so excited to be apart of this experience, networking andlearning with my peers. Without reservation,I know this is where I belong! There was no shortage of laughs, words ofencouragement, career advice, and smiles aswe all enjoyed the delicious and artisticallydisplayed food and beverages.
