Have we learnt from past disasters? How have emergency managementorganisations adapted their systems to the pressures of continuousemergencies? What are the new learnings in our rapidly expanding useof spatial technologies? Now in its 15th year, the EMSINA workshop will oer presentations, lightning talks and facilitated discussions, and will present examples of the use and the growing demands of Geospatial intelligence technologies as applied in within the emergency services organisations, governments and public information. We will hear about the latest applications and tools that drive data driven decision making, trendsand common national scale directions and most important we will focuson what the future holds in an ever-increasing need for geospatial inmodern digital solutions. 18 | AFAC24 Conference ProgramProfessional Development ProgramFriday 6 SeptemberDesign to survive – Fire engineering and command decisions that save livesThis event, delivered by the Institution of Fire Engineers Australia, will examine the correlation between re engineering principles in building design and incident command decisions made at a re event. The workshop will bring senior level incident commanders and re safety experts together to discuss the critical factors in building design and re systems within a building to understand the impact they have on a re’s behaviour within a structure and the ow on eect that this would have for an incident commander making operational decisions on scene. This will be complimented by experts in the decision-making process whilst under pressure.A key component of this workshop will be a simulated re event narrated by an incident commander and re engineer in tandem, examining the development of a re and the inuence of dierent re safety design features on the outcomes of the event.Australia BranchHosted by
