GOVERNMENTALDavid Robertsdroberts@mjcpa.com#32487Dave Jahoskydjahosky@mjcpa.com#77979Advisory services are designed to solve a problem – either proactively to prevent something from occurring in the future, or reactively when a problem has already occurred. Advisory services are wide-ranging in scope and each project is designed to meet each clientʼs specific need. There is no defined rule book or defined criteria for completing advisory projects, but our intention is to provide the client with multiple options and recommendations in a value-added format to solve their problems. The Government Advisory Practice can assist with almost any need from solving small-isolated issues to large government-wide issues. The Government Advisory Practice can assist your clients when any of the following situations are applicable (the list is not exhaustive):The need to better understand current operations and develop a “current state” baseline – very common when there has been changes in leadership/managementA desire to assess and enhance operations and performance (people, process, and technology)Strategically wanting to prepare for the future and ensure sustainabilityHaving to solve the problem of “doing more with less”Ensuring compliance with applicable federal/state/local governing laws, regulations, etc.A D V A N C I N G A D V I S O R Y - I N D U S T R I E S| 0 3Addressing a specic needProviding an understanding or baseline of operationsProactively helping governments become more strategicHelping governments modernize operationOen clients have isolated problems where the root cause needs to be identified and processes altered to help ensure the problem does not occur again. Oen clients donʼt understand the day-to-day operational processes and management decisions that occur and they desire a “health check” to learn how operations are occurring and how they can be improved (or receive validation that operations are sound).Oen clients may not have a formal strategic plan or departmental plans that support the governmentʼs mission. Clients oen donʼt measure performance against goals or leverage existing data.Oen clients recognize that their systems and business process are outdated and want to change the way they do business. As examples, Client X did not make insurance payments for 4 months; or Client Y wants to change their budget methodology. As examples, Client X has had a change in executive leadership and they desire an operational assessment to learn the “good, bad, and ugly” of what they are now responsible for; or Client Y has had issues with its Finance department producing timely and credible information and they want to better understand what the underlying issues are.As examples, Client X wants to develop government-wide and departmental goals and have methods to measure performance through defined key performance indicators; or Client Y wants to create dashboard reporting for all departments so executives can quickly ascertain performance and make changes as needed, or Client Z wants to replace manual processes with technology. As examples, Client X still performs payroll internally, issues paper checks, and wants to look at outsourcing or more technological solutions; or Client Y wants to implement a new financial system and needs assistance with the requirements definition and RFP development/management.Kate Russelkrussel@mjcpa.com#36783Adam Fraleyafraley@mjcpa.com#36771
