OH Lic# 12586www.Hilscher-Clarke.comOUR PORTFOLIOLuKLuK’s original electrical service was on a 12.47 KV feed and were at their maximum capacity with American Electric Power. In fact, LuK was consuming 500 amps from a 470 amp service. At American Electric Power’s suggestion, LuK asked Hilscher-Clarke to design-build a new turn key substation. Once we designed the project, it then went out to bid. Hilscher-Clarke was awarded the project, and work began. Hilscher-Clarke was responsible for setting up the foundations, erecting the steel and installing a new pole line feed connecting the substation to the LuK facility. Soil sampling, engineering, rigging, wire ter-minations and commissioning were all done in-house, making it a true turn key project. The entire project took minimal coordination with LuK until it was time to connect into their existing systems. LuK sustained a one-day outage for the connections to take place. Hilscher-Clarke supplied all manpower required to make sure the outage had a minimal effect on the customer’s productivity.

Page 32

OH Lic# 12586www.Hilscher-Clarke.comOUR PORTFOLIOFreshmarkIn 2016, Freshmark doubled their facility by adding an addition to their Canton location, and soon noticed they had an electrical problem - they were out of power with their current utility feed and had no room for expansion. Freshmark is also a customer of American Electric Power, and were fed a 12.470KV service, but were limited to 400amps. Essentially, Freshmark was maxed out on power, and AEP suggested a substation. Freshmark needed a solution if they were to continue their production capabilities, and installing a sub-station was a logical case in doing so. AEP would have had to substantially upsize their feed if Fresh-mark was to remain on the 12.470KV feed. Therefore, Freshmark contacted Hilscher-Clarke to design-build a brand new 69KV substation. The substation was constructed in two phases - the rst in 2016 and second in 2018. The rst phase quickly reached capacity; The second phase was constructed to meet the needs of a continually growing facility. Spare disconnect switches were congured into the design to allow for future plant expansion. The substation is protected by two SF6 circuit breakers, with SEL overcurrent and differential protec-tion schemes. The protective devices and annunciator are installed in a custom, in-house made enclo-sure. The customer is being supplied with a fully regulated 12.47KV system. Fully automated capacitor banks are utilized for power factor correction.

CORE MARKETSCORE MARKETSOH Lic# 12586www.Hilscher-Clarke.comTransmission & DistributionNOT ALL TRANSMISSION AND DISTRIBUTION COMPANIES ARE LOOKING TOWARD THE FUTURE LIKE WE ARE.The United States government recently announced a plan to modernize and expand the power grid with the goal of increasing access to affordable, reliable, clean electricity across the nation. The U.S. Department of Energy estimates that the country needs to expand electricity transmission systems 60% by 2030, and may need to triple current capacity by 2050 to accommodate the anticipated power demand for electric vehicles and electric home heating, while reducing power outages due to severe weather. Hilscher-Clarke is investing in the future with the creation of the Transmission and Distribution services division, with the goals of expanding the nation’s power grid and repairing areas affected by severe weather events.Extreme weather can wreak havoc on our nation’s power grid. Downtime can be deadly, which means power needs to be restored as soon as possible. Hilscher-Clarke specializes in safely and effectively restoring electrical systems, working as an extension of your local electric company to get you back online. No matter where you are — we can help you cope with hurricane devastation, tornado damage, and re and ood destruction. CORE MARKETSOH Lic# 12586www.Hilscher-Clarke.comSubstations As your business grows and expands, it’s not uncommon to nd yourself outgrowing the low-voltage capacity of your power company, too. When it’s time to upgrade your facility to medium voltage electrical service, Hilscher-Clarke can manage your project from system design to nal installation.By installing your own substation, you’ll experience a number of benets, including:• Cost savings: By taking responsibility for a higher voltage feed, you could save up to 30% on your power bill each month – resulting in a complete return on investment in 1-3 years.• Reliability: Subtransmission power is a more reliable source of electricity. Since power companies make great efforts to protect higher voltage lines, power outages are extremely rare.• Control: By controlling the power that enters your facility, you’ll no longer be reliant on the power company to resolve issues of dirty power, voltage drop and phase loss.• Power factor correction: By installing a capacitor bank with your new substation, you can correct your power factor for the entire facility. This eliminates any additional charges you may currently be incurring from the power company. When you choose Hilscher-Clarke for your substation design-build, we start by calculating your electricity usage. Then, we meet with your power company to plan the substation installation. After we provide a detailed quote, you can opt for us to start construction immediately. Our turn-key installation approach means we take responsibility for every step, from start to nish. That includes:• Site surveys• Utility company approval• Permits• Engineered drawings approval• Groundbreaking• Construction• Coordinating with subcontractors, local authorities and utility companies• Complete installation• Testing• Commissioning• SwitchoverAfter installation is complete, our team is always available to maintain your system – whether it’s a 24/7 service call or a service maintenance contract.
