Kyunghun Kim - Principal ConductorKyunghun Kim joined the Adelphi Orchestra in 2022 and currently serves as the Principal Conductor. He is also the Music Director of the Bergen Youth Or-chestra and the RSO. Mr. Kim frequently appears as a guest conductor with major South Korean or-chestras, including the Bucheon Philharmonic Or-chestra, the SungNam Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Korean Chamber Orchestra. He recently made his debut with the WE Philharmonic Orchestra at the renowned Lotte Concert Hall in South Korea, con-ducting two sold-out concerts. Mr. Kim also serves on the music faculty at Leh-man College in New York, where he teaches string instruments and conducts the Lehman College Chamber Orchestra. Mr. Kim has previously held positions as Principal Associate Conductor of Ensemble 212, Resident Conductor of the Chelsea Symphony Orchestra, and Assistant Conductor for both the Greenwich Village Orchestra and the New York Symphonic Arts Ensemble. He has also con-ducted the Vidin Philharmonic Orchestra and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra. Before graduating from the Juilliard School in 2011 with a Master’s in Orchestral Conducting under James DePriest, Mr. Kim was an Assistant Conductor of AXIOM, a contemporary music ensemble at Juilliard, and conducted the school’s Music Ad-vancement Program (MAP) Orchestra from 2009 to 2011. Prior to this, he earned an Artist Diploma in Conducting in 2007 from the Curtis Institute of Music, studying un-der Otto-Werner Mueller, where he served as Assistant Conductor for various opera projects.Mr. Kim has participated in numerous prestigious music festivals and master classes, including a Kurt Masur conducting seminar, the Wiener Meisterkurse, the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, and the Pierre Monteux School, studying with notable conductors such as Michael Tilson Thomas, Alan Gilbert, and Marin Alsop. In June 2013, he was selected as a seminalist in the Chicago Symphony Orchestra’s Sir Georg Solti International Conducting Competition & Apprenticeship.Born in Seoul, South Korea, Mr. Kim began his piano and violin studies at the age of ve. He continued his education at the Boston Conservatory, where he earned a Bachelor of Music in viola performance. Mr. Kim currently resides in New Jersey with his wife and two children. For the past two decades, the Adelphi Orchestra has consistent-ly supported emerging talent through its Young Artist Competition and Young Artist Concerts throughout New Jersey and the New York metropolitan area. It has been nominated by its peers for the JerseyArts People’s Choice Award in the Favorite Orchestra/Symphony Division for six consecutive years. As a mem-ber of both the American League of Orchestras and Opera America, the Adelphi Orchestra is northern New Jersey’s longest continuously performing ensemble, contributing to the rich cultural tapestry of the region for an impressive 71 years.
ingsley Hsieh, a 20-year-old American-Taiwanese clarinetist from Taipei, Taiwan, is currently pursuing his bachelor’s degree at Mannes School of Music under Professor Charles Neidich, with eligibility for full tuition exemption. Kingsley is passionate about performing contemporary music. He is now the nalist in The George and Elizabeth Gregory Concerto Competition, where he is playing John Corigliano’s Clarinet Concerto. He won the 2023 Soloist Competition at Taipei National University of the Arts and performed Jörg Widmann’s Fantasie in April 2023. Additionally, Kingsley won 1st prize in the college division of the 2024 Adelphi Concerto Competition last April. He and his wind quintet have been invited to perform at various events, playing music from different periods, including Samuel Barber’s Summer Music, Carl Nielsen’s Wind Quintet, and works by several American composers.
