ADA Delegaon CandidatesI have been practicing general dentistry in Richmond for 30 years. Before 1992, I practiced for 7 years as a US Navy dentist. I have been involved in the IDA for over 20 years. I have held various leadership positions both at my local component, Eastern Indiana Dental Society, and at the state and national level. I have served as Speaker of the House, and currently as the President of the IDA. I have been repre-senting Indiana and the 7th District at the ADA as a delegate and a Council mem-ber for several years. Because of this, I have a large network of friends across the country, which can only benet Indiana on the national ADA political scene. I would be very grateful for your vote so that I may continue my work for you at the ADA.DR. JILL BURNS—Eastern Indiana Dental SocietyStrategic Planning passed at the 2022 ADA HOD. I have been out front planning for this transition for a few years representing Indiana dentists. Indiana and the 7th District will combine with many states in the Midwest as part of the plan. I was voted to serve as 7th district caucus chairman for the 2022 ADA HOD coordinating a 6th district combination caucus session in Houston. We have made important contacts, relationships, development plans yet have additional work that needs to continue to see the Strategic Planning process to a successful end. I would also like to support our trustee and friend Dr. Chad Leighty at the national level. Thanks for the consid-eration.DR. STEVEN C. HOLLAR—North Central Dental Society
ADA Delegaon CandidatesI would appreciate being considered for the 2024-25 ADA delegation. I have served the IDA as president, speaker, and am currently the chair of governmental aairs. Nationally I have served on the ADA’s CAPIR and CDEL councils, spent three years on an ADA task force for licensure and currently I am the vice-chair of DANB and the 7th District ADPAC representative. I also believe I have the longest tenure on the ADA delegation for Indiana. The ADA meeting is about contacts and inuence. With the many positions I have held know many people in all aspects of dentistry. I know virtually everyone from our companion state Ohio, and have made numerous con-tacts with dierent dentists across the country. Being a delegate comes with a sharp learning curve. From my years on the delegation I have learned all the nuances as to what it takes to be on the delegation. I can act as a mentor for new people on the delegation and help them navigate this process. I appreciate the privilege that it is to be considered for this position and ask for your support.DR. STEVE HOLM—Northwest Indiana Dental SocietyIt is a privilege to be asking for your support to be a part of the Indiana delegation to the ADA. I presently serve on peer review and have been an alternate delegate to the MDA since 2021. I am also a founding participant in the IKDDS’ FLIK leadership program. I am a founding member of the FORT study club. Since graduating from dental school, I have served on numerous community boards, many in a leadership role. I am currently serving my third year on my local school board. I couldn’t be more excited to run for this position. I was extremely energized by the presentation at last year’s MDA by our ADA executive director and feel as though I have the qual-ity time and passion it will take to serve as a part of this remarkable organization. My current roles at the local and state level, along with my very active community involvement should make me a strong contributor to the delegation. I am honored to be running for this position and thank you for your consideration.DR. DOUGLAS JANSEN—Isaac Knapp District Dental Society
ADA Delegaon CandidatesI am grateful for the opportunity that being a delegate for the state of Indiana will provide for me. When I decided on a career in dentistry, one of my goals was to change people’s perception of the dentist. While we know dentistry is seen as a trusted profession, there are still many patients whose number one fear is the den-tist. I went into dentistry with this in mind. Throughout my career, I have worked in public health, as an associate in private practice in underserved communities and also in auent communities, for a company that provided dentistry to patients in nursing homes, and also in academia. I have been fortunate to see many sides of dentistry for ourselves as professionals and for our patients. And of course, as a woman of color, I have a dierent perspective from the majority of our profession. I take all these experiences with me as I work to advocate for our profession and patients.DR. ELIZABETH SIMPSON—Indianapolis District Dental SocietyIt is an honor to again be asking for your support in my application for the IDA’s del-egation to the ADA. As a third-generation dentist, I had the privilege of growing up in organized dentistry, and it has quickly become one of my life’s greatest passions. I have served as an alternate delegate for Isaac Knapp since 2020, and I will soon begin my term as secretary of it’s Board. I also serve on the IKDDS Membership, Young Dentist, and Government Aairs Committees. I am Vice-Chair of the IDA’s Government Aairs Committee, and I serve on the IDPAC Board and the New Den-tist Subcommittee. I am a graduate of the AIR program, and will be participating in the IKDDS’ inaugural FLIK program. I am a member of the ADA’s Advisory Commit-tee on Annual Meetings, and am a fellow in both the Pierre Fauchard Academy and the American College of Dentists. I feel that my extensive history with and experience in organized dentistry, along with my dedication to community involvement, make me an excellent candidate to sup-port the future of our profession. The relationships I’ve made nationally have already been a benet to the 7th district, and I am excited to continue to cultivate those friendships throughout what I hope is a long and healthy career. I look forward to continuing to represent the IDA this year in Orlando, and I am excited for the oppor-tunity to promote the IDA’s interests in the future. Thank you for your consideration!DR. JILL STETZEL TORKEO—Isaac Knapp District Dental Society
ADA Delegaon CandidatesIt would be a privilege to serve as a member of District 7’s delegation to the Amer-ican Dental Association. I graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry in 2019 and I am currently practicing as a General Dentist in Gas City. I have been involved with organized dentistry even before to my graduation from IUSD. Prior to graduation, I served on the American Student Dental Association’s executive board as Legislative Liaison. During my tenure I worked with the Indiana Dental Associ-ation’s Committee on Governmental Aairs to re-implement Dental Advocacy Day and participated in the joint ADA-ASDA Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. After graduation, I sought to maintain my connection with organized dentistry and have served as both an alternate and voting delegate in the IDA House of Delegates. I will be Serving as the President of the North Central Dental Society and currently am a member of the New Dentist Committee of the IDA. I understand that advocacy and engagement at all levels, local, statewide and nationally, are vitally important to pro-tecting and advancing the profession. Ensuring the interest’s of District 7 are repre-sented in national advocacy on current issues, such as reimbursement and work-force development, is critical to enabling dentists in the district to continue providing quality care to their patients. I look forward to the opportunity to collaborate with my colleagues to further advance our great profession. I appreciate your consideration and humbly ask for your support. DR.
