2024 BOARD OF DIRECTORS President…………………………………………………John Henken Vice President……………………………………...Tom Lamphere Recording Secretary………………………………….Dee Henken Corresponding Secretary……………………...Steve DiNenno Treasurer………………………………………………..Michael Riggs Two Year Board Member…….Steve Arcidiacono (Year 2) Two Year Board Member………………….Tim Bean (Year 2) Two Year Board Member…………..Laurie Baltrus (Year 1) Two Year Board Member…………...Tony DeCarlo (Year 1) DIRECTOR’S NOTES “I really want to talk about us. I think we’re all prey interesng and I think maybe there is a show in there somewhere, which would be called A Chorus Line.” In January of 1974, Michael Benne said these words to a group of Broadway chorus dancers gathered around a tape recorder at Nickolaus Exercise Center in Manhaan. The prompt was simple: Say your name, where you were born, and why you started dancing. One by one, the dancers began to share their accounts, the stories brimming with emoon. Many of the dancers knew each other, but by the end of the night they knew more about each other’s personal stories than they could have ever imagined. Lile did they know their stories would plant the seeds that would grow into one of the longest-running musicals on Broadway. From Creang a Chorus Line by Morgan Evans Direcng an iconic musical comes with a certain amount of responsibility. When that musical is based on the stories of real-life performers, however, it becomes even more important to tell those stories as authencally as possible. A Chorus Line was wrien during a me when performing on stage was more than just a career, it was a way of life. The dancers, or “gypsies”, whose stories are told throughout the piece, give their me, energy and passion to create art in the most authenc way possible. The passion to do this never ends, even when faced with struggles and adversity. The story focuses on the rst step in the process, the audion. Audiences are given a rst-hand account of what an audion is like. It is told from the perspecve of those who must endure the seemingly endless hours of dancing, singing and performing with no guarantee of ever being given the job. What drives them to go all-in during this process is the love of the art and the desire to create and be a part of something bigger than themselves. This desire and love is also in the heart of every community theater arst and why we (who aren’t paid) do what we do. The 24 performers on this stage tonight, as well as the crew, sta and orchestra, are here to help bring stories to life and to share those stories with you in the most authenc way possible. I would like to thank the enre cast, crew and orchestra of A Chorus Line for making this summer a magical and upliing experience as we worked together to bring this story to the stage. I hope these stories resonate with you, the audience, and help you to reect on your true passions and what you do for love in your own lives. Steve DiNenno, Director
