Our Mission Board of Directors PROTECTING CHILDREN PRESERVING FAMILIES SINCE 1915 Dear Friend Healing It may not be the first thing that comes to mind when we think of the holiday season but healing is one of the very best gifts children and youth can receive at this special time of year or any time Thanks to you and so many in our community children and youth are receiving the support and treatment that leads to healing each day Last year we provided more than 4 400 hours of professional counseling valued at more than 1 million And because you choose to give we can provide this service free of charge I m pleased to say that this program Real Help for Real Life has moved to a more central location that should make these services even more accessible as we move into a new year For youth like Sierra page 3 healing is happening through our Morris Program At 15 she s finally dreaming about her future and putting plans into place because you gave her page 2 the space and time to begin her recovery from past trauma I also hope you won t miss an amazing opportunity to DOUBLE your impact for children young adults and families Until December 31 a generous anonymous donor has offered to match all gifts to ACH up to 50 000 On behalf of all we serve thank you for your continued support Wishing you and yours the happiest of holidays Gratefully Wayne Carson Ph D Chief Executive Officer Anna Alvarado Toby Ardoyno Sarah Bennett Henry Borbolla Linda Christie Katie Ciccarino Delynn Crofford Tom Harris Tim Harvard Kelly Keller Secretary Barry Kromann Treasurer Farah Lawler Chris Mesa Cheryl Moore Lynn Newman Alan Shipman Kyle Whitaker Chair Foundation Board Members Linda Christie Bob Ferguson Melinda Johnston Barry Kromann Janeen Lamkin Fred Moore Chair Community Ambassador Advisory Council Margaret Augustat Karen Barlow Alysa Dennett Lindy Eubank Vivian Ferguson Missy Johns Barry King Cindy Level Judy Mayo Suzanne Tucker

You Give YOUTH SPACE TO HEAL We don t know how to help you 15 year old Sierra was told just before she found herself without a safe place to live Thankfully compassionate friends like you gave her not only a roof over her head but the tools to heal and thrive Throughout her childhood Sierra lived with various family members and in three different placement Morris Program which provides safe stable and nurturing homes and home based I want to fulfill intervention therapy for my dreams and do youth ages 14 17 who are unable to live with their things I thought I families or in a foster home couldn t do For Sierra the program was a turning point She learned to move forward despite past painful experiences and now she has goals for her future I want to fulfill my dreams and do things I thought I couldn t do she homes Eventually she found her says I want to help other kids and I way to the ACH Pat O Neal Youth want to travel Emergency Shelter Thank you for partnering with ACH One of my biggest challenges during to provide a safe and supportive my time at ACH has been being open environment for Sierra and so many with others and feeling secure to ask more youth providing space to heal for assistance she says dream and grow After two months at the shelter Sierra agreed to move to ACH s Name changed to protect privacy THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF FORT WORTH INC Advocates for Support For over 10 years the Junior League of Fort Worth Inc JLFW and ACH have had a meaningful partnership From Placements volunteers to Projects volunteers and funding to multiple Days of Giving and Done in a Day events League volunteers have worked alongside ACH staff to help fulfill a mutual mission improving communities Each week our JLFW volunteers not only build meaningful relationships with the youth served at the ACH Residential Treatment Center but they are also able to advocate for the residents and add a special touch to the care ACH offers Volunteering with ACH is a proactive way of doing your part to strengthen families and reduce child abuse to make our community a safer place League volunteers share Whatever the cause that may drive you to serve with ACH your heart will be forever changed for the better ACH thanks the Junior League of Fort Worth Inc for its members continued support giving spirit and helping ACH fulfill our mission of protecting children and preserving families

Boost your charitable impact with tax wise year end gift ideas 1 There is no shortage of support at ACH You re Protecting CHILDREN PRESERVING FAMILIES When Matt and Aimee agreed to provide short term respite foster care through ACH they didn t imagine how much love would fill their hearts in such a short amount of time Three year old Jenny began staying with Matt and Aimee and their two children Keira and Micah when Jenny s foster family needed respite Though all indications were that Jenny s biological mother s rights would soon be terminated she was instead granted an extension with hopes of family reunification As you can imagine this decision led to conflicting emotions for Matt Aimee and their children but they credit ACH for supporting and encouraging them through it all There is no shortage of support at ACH Aimee says With a wealth of support around them the family not only cared for Jenny but also encouraged her biological mother through the process Today Jenny is safely reunited with her mother and Matt Aimee and their children continue a relationship with them both We had never imagined we would foster let alone see a child go back to her biological mom Aimee says And yet there is something pretty amazing that happens when you can be a part of a larger support system for both child and parent Aimee and Matt are waiting expectantly to welcome a fifth member of their family through adoption Thank you for joining with ACH to protect children and preserve families this holiday season and all year long Pocket a tax deduction when you make year end cash or short term gain property gifts For donors who itemize contributions to public charities allow you to deduct 100 of your donation subject to an annual limit of 60 of your adjusted gross income Gifts exceeding the annual deduction limit can be carried forward 2 Multiply your tax savings by giving longterm capital gain assets like stock or real estate If transferred to ACH Child and Family Services instead of giving cash you receive a deduction at full fair market value without having to recognize the gain What if you do not intend to sell your low basis stock Consider keeping the cash giving low basis stock and then using the money to buy the same stock resetting the basis at the current market price 3 Eliminate your income tax bill on your traditional IRA distributions Donors who have IRAs know that every dollar withdrawn from the IRA triggers ordinary income tax at 72 the owner must withdraw some amount annually But IRA owners aged 70 or older can use an IRA Charitable Rollover to distribute directly to ACH rather than taking the distribution as taxable income This works great for donors who take the standard tax deduction it gives you a secondary tax benefit and a lower gift cost 4 Take a tax deduction now and give to your favorite charities on your schedule Accounting and tax planning can be a headache for donors who make gifts throughout the year without a charitable plan Consider establishing a Donor Advised Fund or DAF It s great for donors who wish to make a larger generous gift for tax timing or other reasons to establish a flexible vehicle for annual charitable giving with a sponsoring organization your assets grow tax free and you make gifts on your timeline To learn more about tax smart gift ideas visit ACHserviceslegacy org Name changed to protect privacy ACHchildandfamily ACHchildfamily achchildandfamily ACHservices org
