There are so many children who need you In 2020 there were more than 9 000 children in North Texas in need of foster care At ACH we serve children from infancy to age 17 who are in the care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services DFPS There s a particular need for families willing to accept placement of sibling groups children with behavioral challenges and children age five and up especially teens If there s room in your heart and your home please consider becoming a foster parent It s not always easy but it s the most fulfilling job in the world Chris and Kevin Velasquez

Licensure Options Process to become licensed ACH strives to license families within 90 days Foster Care is caring for children who are removed from their home as a result of abuse neglect and looking after them until they are reunified with their family or fictive kin Attend an Informational Meeting D Kinship allows you to care for children who are either biologically related to you or fictive kin unrelated individuals with a close emotional relationship under the supervision of the agency and DFPS PPROV E APPLICATION UNDER REVIEW FOR APPROVAL CE A Adoption is when you are only licensed to adopt and the agency works with you to match you with a child who has been in the foster care system and needs a permanent home Submit an online inquiry or call and speak with an ACH staff member about becoming a foster or adoptive parent ON Foster to Adopt is a dual license to foster and adopt children from foster care The main purpose is to foster children in need of a home If you happen to foster a child who becomes legally free for adoption you may be able to adopt them Complete and submit your application packet Your application is reviewed by ACH staff to ensure the right fit for the children we serveIf approved the Initial Home Visit is scheduled and conducted Requirements to become Foster and Adoptive Parents Be financially stable Have adequate space Be at least 21 years of age Have clear background and FBI fingerprint checks Have been a resident of Texas for at least one year Be single married widowed or divorced but may not cohabitate Have experienced no major life changes or challenges within the past year Complete required training Complete observation The home study is conducted once all documents have been received and reviewed Family becomes licensed CONGRATULATIONS HOME STUDY DOCUMENT REVIEW
