Arc MonmouthThe Achievement ZoneYoung adults enrolled in The Achievement Zone are challenged and prepared topursue their goals, as staff help participants clarify their plans and take the nextstep as adults. The Arc of Monmouth offers a robust and well-balanced curriculumwith options like Job Club and pre-vocational training, cooking, creative arts,community service, fitness, and community inclusion. There is something foreveryone!The Achievement Zone offerings (Monday through Friday) will run from 9 AM to 3 PM. Transportation to and from the program (drop off and pick up) is NOT provided by TheArc. One unit of respite will be added to your plan for each week of program. Forexample, if the session is 10 weeks, 10 units of respite will be included to compensatefor early arrivals or late departures. Additional units may be requested if needed. Some activities may require higher levels of activity. Some activities also requireadditional costs. If you have particular needs (e.g. medical, behavioral, mobility, safety, or self-care)that cannot be met in one of these offerings, don't forget that The Arc of Monmouthalso offers five Achievement Centers with specially-trained staff on site.If you are new to the Achievement Zone, we strongly encourage you to schedule atour to be sure the activities would be a good fit. Beaware if a scholarship you are interested inrequires a student to be pursuing a degree.Don’t be afraid to ask whether they can make an exception. Non-degree programs forstudents with ID are relatively new, and thescholarship program may not have consideredoffering the scholarship to students pursuinga certificate. They may be open to this option if you ask.Scholarships are one resource that can help studentspay for college. Students with intellectual disability(ID) can access a range of scholarships.There are numerous scholarships available, but sometimes it can be hard to find the ones that apply to your situation. We have identified some disability-specific scholarships that are appropriate for students with disabilities who are pursuing a non-degree program. As these types of scholarships can be extremely limited, offering only a few for the entire country, we share some other tips for finding local or college-specific scholarships as well. We encourage you to look beyond disability-specific scholarships to these opportunities as they can also be a great source of funding.Scholarships awarded based on your location. Many high schools have a counselor dedicated tosupporting students in the college search process. Counselors have a lot of information about scholarships that other students in your area have accessed. Inbetween sessions, you will study the material that waspresented in your lessons.Some students may be ready to take the test in 3months, while others may take much longer.
