Making wine from the roots up, he said, is the only way to create a truly unique wine instilled with a sense of time and place. The vines passed through the family to Jeanine Boillot, Sauzet’s granddaughter. The domaine has made many modernizations, including improved vinification techniques and biodynamic farming. Sophie and Vincent Morey both come from families of winegrowers in Santenay and Chassagne-Montrachet respectively. After studies at Beaune’s Lycée Viticole and work experience in St-Emilion in the Bordeaux region, Vincent Rejoined the family domaine led by his father Bernard Morey in 1986. In the same year Sophie was vinifying her first vintage for the Ménager-Belland domaine inSantenay where she had inherited the tradition of winemaking from her mother. Finally, in 2006 Sophie and Vincent set up their own domaine and had their first harvest in 2007.Vincent & Sophie Morey Batard Montrachet2019 - #6520154750ML/12

The creation of Domaine Henri Gouges was the culmination of 400 years of family grape farmers, and it is, in many minds, the top domaine in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Henri formed the domaine in 1920 but was soon discouraged with selling the fruit to négociants.
