EASTER FLOWER DONATIONS From Jane Gaylord in Memory of Dick Gaylord and Bob Gaylord From Lilly Sihapanya in Honor of Virginia Baxter From Dawn Johnson for Don Betty Surgens From Ginger Breitkreutz in Memory of Don Breitkreutz and Elaine and Frankie Masyada From Bev Kelly in Celebration of Loved Family FOOD DONATION FROM BISHOP S STOREHOUSE PHOTOGRAPHY PROVIDED BY MICKEY MOORE On Wednesday April 3 2019 the Humanitarian Donation from the Church of Latter Day Saints was picked up from the Bishop s Storehouse in Plant City I was joined by Jim and Mickey Moore When we arrived the cases of food that I had selected from their extensive list was waiting for us on the loading dock Charles Darby and his wife Crista visited with us while some of their volunteers loaded our cars They asked about the pantry and who comes to us for food Charles asked if any of our clients could use a frozen turkey By the time we were ready to leave there were 4 boxes with 4 frozen turkeys each in the back of our cars We got a tour of the Storehouse and some of its history They had photographs of some of the farms and processing plants that the LDS Church owns and operates Only the tuna fish was nor sourced from church owned facilities We arrived back at Good Sam in time for Mirko to help unload the food His help was much appreciated We are now in very good shape for several months to come Along with the Letter Carriers Annual Food Drive in May we will have enough to last well into the summer Submitted by Kate Hall From Robin Becker in Celebration of Loved Family From Debbie Rasmussin and Lisa Ware in Memory of Sherrie Demirjian From Liz Barlowe in Memory of her Father Ernest Kelly and in Honor of her mother Bev Kelly THOUGHTS OF A MOTHER ON MOTHER S DAY My greatest blessings call me Mom About three years ago my mother passed away She was 100 years old and yet that was still not enough time spent with her As you do with such a great loss I began to think more on motherhood and my own times spent with my kids I m grateful for the bonds we have with each other For as long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a mom I remember playing with my dolls pretending to take care of my baby As I grew up I had it all planned out I was going to have a baby girl and call her Suzie On June 18 1970 Suzanne Marie was born The first time I gazed upon her in the hospital I was in awe Wow my baby girl She turned out to be quite a girl I thought she would be my only child But nine years later my son Robert Scott was born She was going to be a big sister And what a sister she was My son Bob was diagnosed Asperger s Syndrome when he was 19 With him having a neuro developmental disability that affects the ability to effectively interact and communicate with people I didn t think we would have a close relationship Adults with Aspergers have difficulty comprehending or communicating feelings It s not that they are incapable of emotions Aspies have trouble distinguishing feelings from thoughts and they find it hard to recognize their own feelings But as he has grown older I m amazed at the responsible thoughtful man that he has become I don t hear the words I love you spoken from him yet his actions speak it in volumes He takes care of me and looks after me And even allows me to hug him on occasion I cherish times with my children and look forward to making more I found a quote on Everyday Family about motherhood and it sums up my feelings perfectly Motherhood is a never ending adventure where you get to watch your child grow and learn and transform from a helpless dependent baby to an independent amazing little human All while they push you to the brink of insanity and beyond but you don t mind because in those frustrating and sometimes completely overwhelming moments looking back they seem to be the best moments of your life Being a parent is hard but in the end it s the most rewarding job in the world Have a blessed Mother s Day Written by Barb Steger Submitted by Suzie Steger 4
