WHAT WAS THE GOLDEN AGE Rodgers and Hammerstein officially launched the Golden Age with their trailblazing Oklahoma in 1943 The musical which is considered Broadway s first blockbuster ran for an unprecedented at the time 2212 performances and triggered a change in musicals that would remain for decades to come Broadway boomed in post World War II America as audiences were looking for escapism and could finally afford it on the other side of the Great Depression This outlook shaped the style of musicals of the Golden Age which have become known for their lush orchestrations dreamy dance sequences and generally happy endings As attitudes changed in the 1960s so did Broadway ushering in the time of the concept musical or one in which a concept or theme take precedence and the end of the Golden Age Fiddler on the Roof which opened on Broadway in 1964 is widely considered the final musical of Broadway s Golden Age Excerpted from What Was The Golden Age of Broadway And Other Questions About Theatre s Most Pivotal Years Broadway World February 19 2022 THE PLAYERS Aaron Linford Allred doesn t remember the first time he was called a queer but it seemed like a compliment Probably As a genderqueer performer he couldn t be more excited to be sharing the stage with LGBTQ actors especially ones as phenomenal as these He would like to thank his family and friends for being so brilliant and supportive and he d like to dedicate a song to his Grandpa Winger he ll know which one Daisy Ali All she they is a genderqueer makeup artist and actor who has loved the theatre all of her life She is grateful for this and every opportunity to be on stage especially with other queer performers She would like to thank her family for supporting her through each endeavor and her husband for being there every step of the way Jamelle Avei is a second generation Samoan American who grew up in Woods Cross Utah They have performed in productions in Vegas LA and Utah Their roots started in church and school learning to play bass ukulele cello and piano They have been an independent artist under the name Jam Aziam as I am since 2011 and has been a part of several bands Jamelle appreciates their time with family traveling deeper than surface level conversations and a good laugh
Camden Barrett they them is a theatre maker based in SLC and a student at the University of Utah BFA Actor Training Program and Modern Dance Program Camden was most recently seen as Rosalind in As You Like It at Studio 115 Camden worked as the assistant director for A Year With Frog and Toad at SLAC and as associate director intimacy coordinator for The 39 Steps at The Grand They are co director of KID SISTER a movement based theatrical collaboration Wayne Burton Blair aka Ava ZaWhore has been in the Utah Theatre Scene far longer than they care to admit They have been featured both in and out of drag from Shakespeare to Sondheim and are thrilled to be back at GCT When not in the theatre you can find them singing a torch song or two in many a gin joint across Utah Idaho and Wyoming Christian David Clarke is overjoyed to be performing with GCT again Previously seen in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee as Leaf Coneybear Christian can t wait to share the stage with other queer artists to celebrate queerness and musical theatre In this current time when queer artistry is under attack Christian feels this cabaret comes at a perfect time and invites the audience members to celebrate queer joy and excellence with us Tai Galla I am an artistic soul that can t live without the magic of arts I am originally from Santiago Chile and I am an Image and Fashion Stylist I love the outdoors and languages and creating stuff I am a fighter and I might fail but I never give up This is me Kassandra Torres Kass loves being with Good Company and is so happy to be back for Queer the Stage She was most recently seen at GCT in TO SAINTS AND STARS as Sof a She is a teacher and a cat mom and is finding her joy every day So much love to Alicia Camille and to all of you THE TEAM Heidi Potter Hunt Music Direction Heidi has worked as a director actor music director choreographer stage manager and producer in Theatre for the past 30 years Heidi s passion for music and theatre started at an early age and continued through her education at UVU on a vocal scholarship where she trained in vocal performance was on the modern dance team and furthered her experience in the Theatre Heidi has since served as the Production Manager and Associate Producer for The Ziegfeld Theatre as well as the Director and Associate Producer for Hunt Mysteries Recently Heidi was the guest director choreographer for Hello Girls at Davinci Academy of the Arts and Last summer she directed music directed and choreographed Broadway on 25th Some of her favorite music director credits include Once on this Island A Chorus Line Mamma Mia School of Rock Footloose and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat
McKalle Dahl Stage Manager is thrilled to be working with Good Company Theatre again This is McKalle s 8th production with Good Company and her 4 and a 1 2 time as stage manager McKalle attended Weber State University and received her BA in Musical Theatre Good Company credits include In the Heights sound board operator Passion stage manager The Christians Jenny and Eurydice Loud Stone McKalle is glad to be a part of the Good Company Journey and hopes for many more credits to come Enjoy the show Darren Maxfield Lighting Designer The son of a drama teacher Darren was literally raised in theatre He holds a BA of Theatre Arts from Weber State University and for over 30 years has worked professionally in many technical capacities in theatres across the country Favorites include Stage Manager Prop Designer at Promised Valley Playhouse in Salt Lake City Technical Director for the Murray Louis Nikolais Dance Company in New York City and Lighting Designer for various local community theatres Darren gives thanks to Marinda William Carter and Nathan you are my inspiration and my joy Alicia Washington Producer Scenic Designer Various Other Roles is the Founder and Co Director of Good Company Theatre She received her BA in Musical Theatre from Weber State University and has trained with SITI Company RIP and The Second City Alicia has worked both as an actress and as a director at many theatres across the state in her nearly 20 years as a theatre professional She is currently a Master of Arts in Creative Leadership student at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design Thanks to Slinky Wiley and Pearl for their generosity and zoomies Camille Washington Producer Sound Designer Etc is the Co Director of Good Company Theatre The queerest theatre experience she s ever had was donning drag to play one of the Three Wise Men in a production of Three Wise Men and a Baby at the Pentecostal church of her adolescence It was not however the most masc moment of her very queer life She received her BA in Art History from the University of Utah and her MA in Exhibition and Museum Studies from the San Francisco Arts Institute A SPECIAL MESSAGE FROM ALICIA AND CAMILLE We can never do enough to express how grateful we are to everyone who donated to our 10 for 10 campaign in honor of GCT s tenth year in operation and to our 2023 Bridge Campaign Good Company Theatre was founded with community at its center and we are humbled by the support of ours Thank you all
