CARING FOR LIFE RESTORATION BEGINS Sharing the Love of Jesus OCTOBER 2018

Page 2

JP S JOURNAL BY JONATHAN CEO Caring For Life RESTORATION BEGINS at Caring For Life and specifically in our conservation area we have been renewing and restoring our three wildlife ponds You know there is an analogy here between our ponds and human life The ponds started out so lovely they were full of life and colour We enjoyed them and the wildlife did too The ponds were established nearly 20 years ago now and they have been wonderful places which have been full of life and colour But in recent years they became overgrown and in many ways ineffective as wildlife ponds Remember God made this world perfect He created it for us to enjoy and to use He created it for us to care for and glorify Him something in which we have failed miserably and to our shame still do With a grant from a Trust we managed to get a great bunch of guys to come and excavate out all the reeds that had destroyed the clay lining of the pond and to remove 100s of tonnes of sediment Like our ponds our world is in desperate need of renewal and restoration We need rescuing from the weeds and the overgrown plants that choke us surround us and ultimately destroy us We plan that by next year all our ponds will be working perfectly ready for beneficiaries and visitors to Crag House Farm to enjoy once again Above all of course we want the local wildlife to come and inhabit them Jesus the Gardener the Master Conservationist has come to do just this He has come to restore and make all things new By simply believing and following Him the process of restoration begins And what a glorious process it is Over the summer months here 1

Page 3

He has come to restore and make all things new By simply believing and following Him the process of restoration begins when Jesus touches your life when Jesus clears away the sediment and the weeds As I was walking to work just the other day I passed a young lady who lives in a local home for people with severe mental health issues She was with two lovely carers but this young lady was hitting herself really hard on her head It grieved me to see this precious soul doing that to herself but what was lovely was the way her carers spoke so kindly and gently to her That reminded me about the brokenness of our world All around we see the brokenness of mankind But it s not just in the large national problems where nations battle against each other nor in the hatred within different religious or social groups that we see the brokenness We see the brokenness of the world in every single person who lives in the world and at times we see it strikingly when a person is deeply damaged because of a physical or mental condition What an amazing day it will be when Jesus makes every mind new when the self harming stops What a day it will be when those who hear destructive voices screaming at them will hear them replaced with a different calmer more loving voice What a day it will be when the blind see and the lame walk when the dead are raised That will be some day That will be the day when a full and complete restoration job will be done the day of the Lord the day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus is Lord 2

JP S JOURNAL CONT D My dear friends let s earnestly pray for those around us who live in the untouched and dying pond of life that they would seek and find the Master Gardener Jesus Pray that while they still have breath they would put their trust in Him to receive the restoration and renewal they so desperately need At Caring For Life we are working for that Master Gardener Jesus Christ In His strength and by His grace we are seeking to love and support people in His name but more than that to love with His love John said this This is love not that we loved God but that He loved us and gave His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins That s restorative love that s renewing love that s rescuing love that s real love That love is going from this place in Leeds every day to some of the most desperate and needy people around us and we are so thankful to God that we can do this for Him Al Pacino the actor said this line in one of his films Either we heal as a team now or we will die as individuals 3 Every one of us who hold the name of Jesus dear must come before Him and Him alone Everything we do must be done before Him and in His strength When we heal we become part of a team a team with Jesus as captain But if we don t do that we die as Pacino said as individuals My friends as individuals we can t do a thing to help those lost and lonely souls whom we are called to love But remember with Christ it s different because all things are possible through Him who gives us strength Brothers and sisters in the Lord please pray for the work of Caring For Life Please pray that in Christ we shall see great things done all for His glory and fame Please pray and maybe help us with this that we shall find the resources we so desperately need so that we can continue to Share the Love of Jesus

EXCITING NEWS BY JONATHAN CEO Caring For Life As you will remember from one of our older bulletins we want to replace our two supported living homes Tindall House and Wendy Margaret Home with a more suitable facility in the future We are still looking for the right parcel of land for this project but as yet we have not been able to find one Plans still continue to develop as to how we can achieve this aim We also said we were going to buy smaller properties so that we could provide safe and secure homes for some of the vulnerable folks we support We are delighted to announce that we have put in an offer on a property which has been accepted This will as explained provide a lovely home and a safe and secure place for someone to live It is very hard to find vulnerable people a safe forever home so we are thrilled and thankful to the Lord that we can make this life changing difference We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those of you who have given so generously towards these funds Your gifts have enabled this wonderful thing to happen We hope and pray that this will not be the last but just the first of many properties we acquire in order to provide a home forever Maybe also a home where someone comes to meet the God who has ultimately provided that home Please pray that we can provide many more of these homes in the future If you are interested in giving towards or leaving money towards this type of project please do get in touch It is very hard to find vulnerable people a safe forever home so we are thrilled and thankful to the Lord that we can make this life changing difference 4

SUPPORTERS DAY 2018 In the run up to Supporters Day the sense of anticipation and excitement building was noticeable among many of our beneficiaries Everyone was busy making their project area look good putting the finishing touches on their art work or practising a favourite song And there was lots of discussion about old friends who might come to visit us on Supporters Day this year Although some of our beneficiaries have loving families there are many more who don t know the love of a family until they come to Caring For Life As one young man put it so beautifully Caring For Life is my first real love family It is such a privilege for us to become family to the precious people we support and it is wonderful to see how our faithful supporters become a very real part of their extended family It is very important for all of us to have people in our corner cheering us on in the small successes of life and in many ways that s exactly what you our supporters do for so many of our beneficiaries especially on Supporters Day We loved seeing you on Supporters Day 5 In fact we had such a great time we put together a brief snapshot video of the day Check it out on our website www caringforlife co uk supporters day 2018

It is such a privilege for us to become family to the precious people we support and it is wonderful to see how our faithful supporters become a very real part of their extended family The clapping and cheering during the presentation of certificates in the Thanksgiving Service will last a long time in the memories of many of our beneficiaries and we pray that this will help them to remember that they are loved and valued by us but more importantly by their Heavenly Father 6

JULIE S STORY You may have read in a previous bulletin about the wonderful holiday the Being There Team had with some of their beneficiaries in Bassenfell in the Lake District in May of this year Julie is one of the ladies who went on the holiday this year and she recently asked Debbie her support worker to write down her thoughts specifically so that they could be shared with our Caring For Life supporters TO THE CFL SUPPORTERS I wanted to write this letter to thank you for your generosity and kindness which meant that I was able to have a break from my every day life and have a few days in Bassenfell It truly was amazing and I appreciated it so much This is why it did me so much good Until Bassenfell I d not had a holiday for over 12 years because of my mental health and also I didn t trust people so this added to my anxiety of stepping outside my own front door making me housebound a lot of the time Being con ned to my own four walls only makes me more isolated lonely and depressed which is why CFL got involved With help from my support worker Debbie who I began to trust and with her encouragement I started to take very small steps towards going out This was huge for me and if you knew my story you d understand why Some days I can t face the outside world but every week Debbie visits and I know that if it s a good day we ll go out for a coffee More often than not it s not a good day so Debbie stays in the at and we might sort things I can t face on my own 7 or do forms Many times we chat because I have no other visitors apart from the occasional visit my sister gives me However I m feeling I always look forward to Debbie s smile and hug which means the world to me and keeps me going from week to week Some days I don t even get out of bed or cook or look after myself so Debbie s visit is a lifeline literally I d never have dreamt I d have come as far as I have in being able to go away for 2 nights and travel such a distance as well as socializing with others I didn t know but over the years with CFL I ve come to know CFL as a safe place and that it was a safe environment and that I would be supported by Debbie and could share with her any worries I had The lead up to Bassenfell was exhausting Debbie kept reassuring me that I wouldn t be alone My anxiety reaching a high it was still an issue as to whether I would actually make it on the day WELL I DID
