AGRICULTURE BUSINESS COURSES OFFERED COURSES OFFERED Introduction to Agriculture Food and Natural Resources Students are introduced to the variety of opportunities within the field of agriculture Introduction to Business Students receive an overall introduction to the world of business while exploring careers in management marketing accounting and finance and human resources Plant Science A foundational course where students explore the form and function of the plant system Animal Science A foundational course where students engage in activities that surround animal agriculture Animal and Plant Biotechnology Students specialize in the use of biotechnology as it relates to plant and animal agriculture Veterinary Studies I This course introduces students to the veterinary field through hands on laboratory work student centered research and job shadow opportunities Veterinary Studies II This course is designed to prepare students for an entry level position in a veterinary hospital or clinic and to take the certification exam for veterinary assistants Agriculture is an exciting career field as it continues to move in a high tech direction The agriculture pathway gives students a strong foundation in plant animal and environmental science Students can pursue such career fields as solar and wind energy animal husbandry or horticulture AUTOMOTIVE Accounting I This course focuses on the accounting cycle and accounting terminology and is designed for students considering a career in business Accounting II Students center on accounting theories principles and practices as well as computerized accounting and inventory systems Sports and Entertainment Marketing Students focus on the implementation of hands on marketing projects in the recreation entertainment and sports industries Content includes advertising sales promotions and publicity Entrepreneurial Strategies In this course teams of students work together with industry partners to solve real world challenges COMPUTER SCIENCE AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY COURSES OFFERED COURSES OFFERED Power Mechanics This course is designed to give students a working knowledge of basic engine systems with an emphasis on the 4 stroke Otto Cycle engine IT Launch This course offers a broad exposure to the variety of pathways students could focus on within IT Students experience the work of an IT professional first hand as they build a system from the ground up This course is fit for any student that has an interest in the field of IT No prior coursework is required for IT Launch Introduction to Auto Technology Engineering This course is designed for the student with no experience in auto repair technology Topics include safety inspections engines transmissions emissions tires and wheels cooling and electrical systems and computerized onboard diagnostics Auto Mechanics This course is designed for the student who wishes to pursue in depth repair of vehicles The U S Bureau of Labor Statistics forecasts that the automotive repair and maintenance industry is expected to add 237 500 new jobs and have a 30 percent growth rate through 2020 This growth will make technicians one of the top 20 jobs with relatively high median earnings and the potential for significant job openings over the next decade 6 According to the National Association of Colleges and Employers NACE the average starting salary for a graduate with a business degree is 54 000 On the higher end of the scale are accountants budget analysts financial analysts financial examiners logisticians and personal financial advisors all of which typically earn more than 60 000 per year IT Infrastructure Students gain an industry standard curriculum focused on hardware networks and security Mobile App Development This course introduces development of applications for mobile devices Students explore web programming native device programming and database interaction Students construct and evaluate multiple applications for mobile devices JavaScript Students are introduced to client side scripting along with constructing and evaluating various client side interactions Students explore HTML and CSS dynamic client side scripting using JavaScript client side error checking validation and asynchronous server interaction Students construct and evaluate various client side interactions AP Computer Science Introductory college level course built around the development of computer programs that correctly solve a given problem It pays to pursue information technology careers The median annual salary for computer support specialists is 48 900 Through specialization in network support that average goes up by more than 10 000 per year according to the U S Bureau of Labor Statistics Programmers and systems analysts stand to earn 74 280 and 79 680 respectively 7
