SP What sets us apart PA R T I C I PAT I O N INQUIRY AND ACTION ENGAGEMENT Education Scholar Maxine Greene once remarked that to rear a generation of spectators is not to educate at all We agree Education should be an empowering participatory experience that encourages students to challenge assumptions engage with diverse perspectives and take action A vibrant democracy depends on an informed and engaged citizenry who understand how to analyze complex issues communicate clearly and take action For this reason we provide an educational environment that fosters the intellectual artistic and personal growth of students while preparing them to embark on successful futures where they can pursue their passions and make lasting changes We also engage students in experiential learning by interacting with our diverse and stimulating city our museums concert halls galleries neighborhoods and communities and involving students in meaningful research and dynamic projects with real world implications To be truly visionary we have to root our imagination in our concrete reality BELL HOOKS
