Edition 108 Spring 2019 www fwbchildrenshome org Building a Family and a Home 17 year old Caleb has lived at the Children s Home for three years it s the longest he s ever lived in one place Prior to coming to the Home he was shu ed from relatives to foster homes in a never ending merryto round Abandoned by his mother Caleb never felt that he truly belonged Dejected by the hand he d been dwelt Caleb felt that a family was something he would never have Coming to live at the Children s Home has changed all that Caleb has cottage parents who love and support him as well as cottage mates who he considers his brothers The younger teens on campus look to Caleb as a role model and an example of what they can be with the support of a family He plays several sports for his school a place where his family continues to grow His campus family is in the stands each game cheering him on showing him what family truly means Finding a place where you belong is often the most di cult part of growing up Many of our young people come into care without a sense of belonging They have often moved from home to home hoping to find someone who will love them and accept them as part of their family They desperately want to belong but are afraid of rejection The Children s Home provides that home We give children like Caleb a Home and a family Teaching them that with the support of loved ones there s nothing they can t achieve What would happen if the Home wasn t here to help children like Caleb We are in the process of building two new cottages to continue to help young people find a home and a family Would you like to know more If you would like additional information on how you can help our children through these new cottages please contact the Children s Home at 252 235 2161

Children s Home Paper Cleaning Products Drive Home Run 5K Friday June 28 2019 7 00 pm Five County Stadium Zebulon Home of the Carolina Mudcats We will be collecting cleaning items and paper products as you enter the gates This is a great opportunity for your family church and youth group to help the Children s Home The Mudcats will donate 1 of each pre sale ticket to the Home Help our young people by ordering your tickets in advance Pre ordering deadline is June 21 Saturday May 4 2019 Registration 8 00 am Race 9 00 am Support our children while spending time with family and enjoying our beautiful campus Runners Walkers and Strollers Welcome Pre registration available at runtheeast com Mail in registration available at fwbchildrenshome org Discount may not be available at the gate To order tickets call the Mudcats 919 269 2287 Day of registration available morning of the race God Provides Reverend Dr Josh Whitfield The Children s Home welcomed friends and family to our annual Friends of Children s Day in November Our campus theme of God Provides from Philippians 4 19 was evident in the many people who shared with us during the program such as Jean Bell Hopewell and Rev Josh Whitfield Stoney Creek God Provides for our children in innumerable ways He has provided them with a safe loving Home and a family who cares for them We are grateful to the many supporters who help provide for our young people through God s blessings in their lives We are grateful for those who feel led to give so that our children can have a life better than the one they had We are especially grateful that God has provided us with a future to continue to serve His children But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus Jean Bell Philippians 4 19 3 CHILDREN S HOME LIFE

I t s 4 30 am December 25 2018 and all the campus is quiet except for Central Cottage The girls who call Central Cottage home are wide awake and with good reason it s Christmas Morning They ve waited as long as possible and can t last another minute As they tumble into the family room they squeal with excitement at the gifts that await them The girls unwrap new clothes shoes books and more Almost everything on their wish lists is there waiting for them In the calm aftermath the girls exchange the gifts they bought for one another They talk about searching for the perfect gift and the excitement level raises again Seeing the joy in their cottage mates faces brings them as much joy as opening their own gifts did Christmas is a new and thrilling time for many of our young people We are thankful for the groups who make our children feel special during the Christmas season They enjoy your visits caroling activities dinners and all the things you do to show them that they are loved Our young people participating in our campus Christmas play Bridge Learning Center students participating in a local parade Visiting with Santa at the Stoney Creek Christmas party 4 CHILDREN S HOME LIFE
