2019 Prayer Corner Prayer Corner Choose Commitment over Compromise and Complacency Scripture Reference Revelation 3 15 Joshua 24 14 New Year New You Time to make an effort to change what you didn t like in 2018 Most identify something physical or relational But what about our spiritual life Were you satisfied with your walk with Christ in 2018 Or have you settled in like your comfy chair at home In Bruce Wilkson book the Three Chairs he identifies Christians as sitting in three different chairs See if you can determine which chair you are sitting in Chair 1 represents Commitment They follow Christ as Choose Today That s every day God s on the throne They experience with God is a relationship They submit to follow the Bible View their job as a mission View their marriage as a covenant They strive to raise godly kids They steward money as it belongs to God They partner with the church to help win souls Chair 2 represents Compromise They follow Christ as Done that God self is on the throne Their experience with God is religion They respect the Bible View their job as a blessing View their marriage as a contract you do for me I ll do for you They strive to raise good kids They treat money as a philanthropist They are consumers of the church Chair 3 represents Complacency They follow Christ as Knew not Self is on the throne Their experience with God is rebellion They own a Bible View their job as an opportunity View their marriage as a convenience They strive to raise successful kids They treat money as owners The church doesn t matter Which chair are you sitting in It may surprise you God prefers you to choose between Chair 1 or Chair 3 Of course He will prefer you to select Chair 1 but at least with Chair 3 you have made a choice God detest Chair 2 Revelation 3 15 I know you inside and out and find little to my liking You re not cold you re not hot far better to be either cold or hot If you are not sitting in Chair 1 make a conscious effort to trade your chair for 1 Chair 1 doesn t get it perfect every time But Chair 1 don t compromise their faith for a worldly view We are called to bring Heaven to earth now Just like Joshua 24 14 So now Fear God Worship him in total commitment Get rid of the gods your ancestors worshiped on the far side of the River the Euphrates and in Egypt You worship God Please join us next week in the extended day at 8 30 There is a prayer box in the office for prayer request Calvary Academy is a private Christian school with the mission of challenging its students to know Christ as Lord teaching them to know and apply biblical truth and training them to pursue academic excellence in order that they may engage and transform their world for Jesus Christ
