NOV 4 Hungarian Dance No 5 BRAHMS Piano Concerto CLARA SCHUMANN Symphony No 3 Rhenish ROBERT SCHUMANN 2023 2023 With Gabriela Martinez piano Symbolizing the relationships between Johannes Brahms and Clara Robert Schumann Romanze represents the complex journey of love and romance This musical love triangle between Brahms and the Schumanns blossomed after Brahms became a close friend to Clara and Robert Though we may never know the true complicated story of Clara and Brahms we do know this is classical music s most tragically romantic love triangle With Guest Conductor Jerry Hou Featuring Stephanie Scarcella soprano Casper Children s Chorale Enjoy a festive evening full of seasonal symphony favorites to ring in the holiday season for you and yours with Guest Conductor Jerry Hou featuring mezzo soprano Stephanie Scarcella and the Casper Children s Chorale Join the WSO for a family friendly evening featuring traditional Christmas carols new sounds of a winter wonderland and familiar favorites for the full holiday orchestra experience DEC 2
2024 2024 FEB 3 UWYO student composer Premiere MONICA MENDOZA Trumpet Concerto H AY D N Symphony No 6 BEETHOVEN With Justin Bartels trumpet We are thrilled to welcome Justin Bartels to the stage to perform Haydn s Trumpet Concerto a unique feat for its time This concert also features the debut of University of Wyoming student composer Monica Mendoza As Hayden was the teacher of Beethoven and as we bring the premiere of a student composer Legacies symbolizes the long lineage of students teachers and composers of classical music With Ji Su Jung marimba The March concert will be an expedition between worlds featuring guest marimbist Ji Su Jung who will bring to life Kevin Puts Marimba Concerto taking our ears and minds on a trek to somewhere ethereal The performance opens with Korngold s Theme and Variations and ends on a diaphanous note with Stravinsky s The Firebird Suite 1945 Ji Su Jung appears by arrangement with the Curtis Institute of Music MAR 2 Theme and Variations KORNGOLD Marimba Concerto KEVIN PUTS The Firebird Suite 1945 STRAVINSKY
MAY 11 Symphony No 2 Gaelic BEACH SUPPORTED BY 2024 Featuring the WSO Young Artist Competition winners The final concert of the season will feature the high school and collegiate division winners from WSO s Young Artist Competition in their symphony rite of passage performing their concertos with the orchestra As we end the season we are excited to perform Amy Beach s Symphony No 2 Gaelic the first symphony composed and published by a female American composer Music on the Move Where music comes to you Creating a strong network of musicians and music supporters that will sustain music and the arts in Wyoming for generations to come Music is for Everyone Through the education and outreach program Music on the Move the WSO offers opportunities for all ages to experience and participate in music WSO musicians perform for 4 000 students in the community Guest artists offer masterclasses and workshops for students Music Director Christopher Dragon visits and rehearses K 12 student band orchestra programs WSO musicians perform for folks with decreased access to concerts at Assisted Living Homes in Natrona County Banner Health Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions Casper Senior Center Title I Schools Music on the Move is the umbrella term for tailored programs such as Children s Program Young Artist Competition Seniors to the Symphony
