40 Years of Service Peter W. Busch, Chairman Amy J. Kight, Executive DirectorWe are delighted to share with you our 2022 Impact Report. Last year represented another year of exponential growth and excitement. The ritual of putting this report together allows me to reect on how our impact accumulates over time. In the past thirty-nine years, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary has treated over 70,000 sick, injured and orphaned wild animals. We have also welcomed over 2.1 million guests from all over the globe to explore our unique ecosystems and learn about the wonderfully important species that we share our world with. So many intrinsic gifts come with being a part of this organization. The opportunity to give a wild animal its freedom back is one of life’s greatest joys. Watching a child light up when they see a bear or panther for the rst time. This year though, we were truly overwhelmed and honored when the Palm Beach North Chamber of Commerce awarded Busch Wildlife Sanctuary as their 2022 Nonprot of the Year. This award is given to an organization whose strategic vision, passion, and perseverance has led to extraordinary outcomes for the community it serves. As we embark on our 40th year, we have an overwhelming sense of pride. We are incredibly proud to be part of a community that values our wildlife and natural resources. We are humbled by the kindness of our supporters. On behalf of our incredible team of staff, volunteers, and board of directors, we want to thank you for your passion and support of our mission. We are hopeful as we move into this new chapter to engage a more diverse base of support so that together, we can better advocate for wildlife and our fragile ecosystems. “ With our move to the new Rocky Pines campus on the horizon, we are proof that forty has never looked so fabulous. ” 5

Did you know that there is no government agency or public department that rescues wildlife in distress? It all falls to nonprot organizations like us. Amazingly, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary can accept over 60 new patients in just one day. This number is growing due to the increases in Florida’s human population. With constant construction and subsequent habitat loss, we do not see an end in sight. Our mission has always centered on our local wildlife and natural resources because we know change begins at home. These efforts have widespread impact though. We provide care to threatened and endangered animals from around the globe - animals migrate and our Sanctuary contributes to the health and safety of patients from around the world; either directly from our Jupiter based hospital or virtually through our rehabilitation collaborations that span the nation. The average donation left by someone bringing an animal for rehabilitative care is $16.99. If you have ever taken an animal to the vet, you know that will not get you very far. Not to mention that a great portion of our patients are not only suffering from injury or illness but also dehydration, emaciation, parasite overload, infection, etc… It is only through the kindness of our wonderful donors that we are able to keep up with the annual increase in patients and also continue upgrading the quality of care they deserve. A Perilous Pelican If only birds could talk, this brown pelican has quite the story to tell. It was found tangled up in a shing line and dangling upside down in a tree over a pond and over 25 feet up in the air! Too much for the resources of the Sanctuary alone, it took the combined effort of the Busch Wildlife rescue volunteers, the Palm Beach Gardens police department, and the Palm Beach Gardens re department to get the bird down safely. We brought the bird back to our hospital for rehabilitation and we were so happy to see it make a complete recovery and release back into the wild!Orphaned OpossumsLook out, it’s a passel of opossums! The majority of patients we see at our wildlife hospital are quite young. Sometimes they are still learning the ways of the world and nd themselves in a compromising position and other times they are orphaned after their mom found herself in trouble. These baby opossums came to us because their mother was hit and killed by a car. Thankfully a Good Samaritan, aware the Virginia Opossums are the only North American marsupial, stopped to check for babies. Her thick pouch protected them and they were all kept safe from injury. We were able to care for them in our nursery until they were big enough to be released back into the wild. These orphaned Virginia Opossum babies are now strong enough to thrive on their own and we were happy to be able to successfully release them back to the wild!“ Our ability to care for them and return them to the wild rely entirely on your generosity. Thank you for making it possible! ” 9

Educating Our CommunityTo achieve our mission of environmental conservation and education we have developed engaging, unique programs that appeal to a diverse audience. Our campus sanctuary, along with our working wildlife hospital, offers eager minds of all ages one of the most unique and memorable education experiences available. Trails lead visitors through pine atwoods, oak hammocks, and cypress wetlands showcasing our permanently impaired animal ambassadors.Equality and diversity are part of the culture of Busch Wildlife Sanctuary. We strive to provide diverse & inclusive programming so that everyone can enjoy our environmental education programs. We have programming in English, Spanish, and with American Sign Language interpretation. Exhibits and activities are highly tactile – our indoor Discovery Center interactive education activities include touch boxes, video monitors, and crawl through activities. We offer different sensory / specially adjusted programs for those with special needs. Our goal is to empower every guest to understand their environmental impact, create a sense of urgency, and encourage them to be part of the solution.“ Thank you for hosting Every Child Matters. We loved it! This was the  rsttimeanyofourkidssawanykind of animal at all. They had the best time. You were able to support our trip and we are so grateful for that. Keep up the good work. You all are awesome! ” - EVERY CHILD MATTERSBUSCH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY 2022 IMPACT REPORT

Our Programs This year we had more than 200,000 visitors, including thousands of school children, a number that is growing by 10% each year. Busch Wildlife Sanctuary offers free environmental education programs providing the community a rare opportunity to learn from nature up-close, creating a memorable message of respect for all living creatures and their habitats. By making our programs free, we are able to offer unfettered access to people from all socio- economic backgrounds -- many of whom would not have the opportunity to learn about the importance of stewardship of the environment and respecting wildlife and nature. In addition, children from across Florida take eld trips to Busch Wildlife Sanctuary to enhance their science curriculum and take part in the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) related educational content. THE JUNIOR NATURALIST AND MINI-JUNIOR NATURALIST These two programs for children ages 5 – 14 provide the opportunity to learn about and participate in conservation efforts to protect and preserve Florida’s wildlife and natural resources and more importantly to learn leadership and public speaking skills which empowers and helps them grow as individuals. Our Junior Naturalist Program sparks a lifelong love of nature and animals! ED-VENTURE OUTREACH PROGRAM We bring the Sanctuary to schools and community groups that are unable to visit us in person. Presentations are adapted to t the needs of each individual group and run year round. As the world becomes more tech focused, learning about the importance of nature and our impact on it is more critical than ever.11

A Destination Busch Wildlife Sanctuary has consistently been praised for its ability to connect people with wildlife and nature. This has led all of our guests to appreciate and become more invested in protecting our fragile ecosystem. “ I make it a point to bring all my family and friends when they come to town. ”- VISITORThis past year, we welcomed over 200,000 guests to Busch Wildlife and are once again, listed as the #1 Top Attraction in Jupiter, FL. With an expanded media push this year, we also saw guests not just from our back yard in Palm Beach County but from cities like Naples, Fort Myers, and the Keys and as far north as Connecticut. Our expanded programs such as Spanish Story Time, will continue to broaden our reach and educate more generations to come.BUSCH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY 2022 IMPACT REPORT

Nurture What’s WildCapital Campaign Update We are moving! For 40 years, Busch Wildlife Sanctuary has been rescuing, rehabilitating and releasing our native species by the thousands. Reintroducing endangered and keystone species back into our fragile ecosystems is critical to our environment. “ Busch Wildlife Sanctuary’s growth has paved the way for acres and acres of more conservation and education impact. “ We have purchased property to meet the increasing demand for more wildlife rehabilitation and expanded educational opportunities for so many generations to come. This signicantly expanded campus will increase our conservation and education capacity and will offer one of the most unique open-air experiences for residents and tourism guests. 13

The rst phase of development of the new campus in Jupiter Farms is well underway. We are excited to report that construction has begun on multiple buildings, with our primary focus to complete all structures needed to ensure that our animal patients are safe, secure, and can receive the treatment and rehabilitation they need. The pandemic-related supply chain issues have led to increases in costs for construction; overnight turning our $10 million campaign into a need for $18 million and necessitating us to break the campaign into two phases. The rst phase will be completed in the Spring of 2023, so that our animal ambassadors can move into the new facility, and we can ensure that no animal in need will be left unaided. Phase II, which will get underway in early 2023, will include the completion of the interior designs, furnishings, equipment, and animal habitats. Please join us in supporting the Nurture What’s Wild expansion campaign. Construction UpdateBUSCH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY 2022 IMPACT REPORT

We love the Sanctuary’s mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured wildlife and educate our community about the environment and ways to protect it. Busch Wildlife is a sanctuary for both the wildlife it cares for and the people who visit. An expanded Sanctuary is needed now more than ever as land development has encroached on wildlife habitats and the human population increases have resulted in more animal injuries and/or orphans. The “new“ Sanctuary will offer three times the space, will greatly improve the experience for all visitors and offer expanded rehabilitation settings for animal care and recovery. We are proud to make one of the rst major gifts to the capital campaign for the new Sanctuary and have recently matched it. We encourage others to support the campaign to protect our wildlife well into the future. – Don & Penny PrayAs an animal lover, I have been a champion of the Sanctuary for many years. I rst heard of the Sanctuary over a decade ago when I found a baby brown limpkin alone in my driveway and didn’t know who could help it. I toured the facility and quickly decided that the Sanctuary is truly a unique and necessary institution. Busch has also taken a lead role in educating the public about wildlife encounters and global sustainability. In an era that largely consists of electronic games and an abundance of “screen time”, it is so refreshing to reconnect with nature. I often remind myself that animals were here long before us, yet we have so much to learn from them. I am so grateful to Busch Wildlife Sanctuary for providing opportunities for everyone to appreciate the wonder. – Andrea NevesElena Lusenti, Andrea Neves, Don and Misha Liebovitz Don & Penny PrayYour Support MattersBUSCH WILDLIFE SANCTUARY 2022 IMPACT REPORT
