Longstone Eco School Programme E Bulletin Oct 2016 John Muir Award On Thursday 27th October School Council members completed their first step towards achieving the John Muir Discoverer Award They spent the day hiking up Cavehill with Jo from the Belfast Hills Partnership Mr Starrs Miss Brown and Miss McIntyre Their first session set the scene for the rest of the John Muir experience giving the pupils a perfect introduction to the wonderful places on our door step School Council members climbed to the top of McArt s Fort giving them amazing views across Belfast of the river valleys parks and wetlands they will be exploring in other sessions The pupils and staff did very well Jo emailed Miss McIntyre to say I loved working with your kids they are an amazing group and a pleasure to be with Very well done to everyone involved Energy Rating Improvements We are very pleased to announce our new Energy Performance Certificate has arrived Our rating has gone from 101 to 80 on the Energy Performance Operational Scale which is better than average This big improvement is to down to the refurbishments which took place last year and to the efforts of pupils and staff to reduce the amount of energy we use You can find the certificate on the cabinet outside Mrs Dunwoody s office
