In the same way that our observance of Advent helps us celebrate Christ’s first coming into the world and anticipate his second coming - the season of Lent is a time when we reflect on Jesus' sacrifice and prepare our hearts for the celebration of His resurrection. Think of it as a spiritual "reset" - a time to slow down, focus, pray and fast. A time to grow closer to God. As we walk through this season together we will be in a sermon series titled, Seeing Jesus. During this series, we will explore six key moments in Jesus’ life - following him from Galilee to Jerusalem where he establishes the kingdom of God through his death, burial, and resurrection. Each story in this series will help us see Jesus more clearly - moving beyond the false portrayals and misrepresentations that may have hidden his authentic nature. We want to see Jesus for who he is and hear what he has to say. We want to pay attention to his words and notice how they reveal his love, grace and character. Whether you're familiar with Lent or new to the idea, the hope is that this series will help you reflect on the deeper meaning of this season and have our eyes opened once again.
