THURSDAY LUNCHEON 10:00 AM—2:00 PM At the center of Jesus’ greatest recorded teaching - the Sermon on the Mount - we find a prayer. The Lord’s Prayer - as it has come to be called - is a short but powerful prayer that has strengthened and instructed the hearts and minds of women and men for thousands of years. Whether we pray often or only sometimes, whether our prayers are strong and deep, or stumbling and sporadic, Jesus offers a prayer for people just like us. While Jesus does not say that we must always pray these exact words, the Lord’s Prayer is an incredibly helpful tool as we approach prayer. It fosters belief, promotes justice, points us to a future hope, and recognizes that the world is not always how we want it to be. In view of this - over the next seven weeks - we will entrust ourselves to this prayer, allow-ing it to shape and instruct us and draw us closer to the heart of Jesus along the way.
