DivorceCare is a caring, Christ-centered support group where people find hope, healing, and practical help for navigating this season of life. Our next session begins Wednesday January 7th at 6:30pm in room 227. GRIEFSHARE New session begins Wednesday, January 7th at 6pm in Room 258 GriefShare is a 13-week healing ministry here at Monterey to walk with those who are grieving. If you are struggling with grief from the loss of a loved one or know of someone who is, please go to www.griefshare.org to find a group in Lubbock, and then select Monterey COC or call the Church Office at 806-795-5201 and asked for information about GriefShare’s Spring classes. CHILDREN’S MINISTRY VOLUNTEERS With our Children’s Ministry leaders retiring in February, we’re building a team of volunteers to ensure our kids continue to experience a welcoming and nurturing environment. You can serve in nursery, teaching, Kids’ Worship, check-in, Merge, or general support. Scan QR code! Advent is a time of preparation and anticipa-tion. The word Advent comes from a Latin word that simply means “coming” or “arrival.” It could be the arrival of anything, but for Christians it is the word that describes the season that prepares us for the arrival of Christ. The arrival of Christ has two dimensions – the First Advent when Christ was born into the world and the Second Advent when Christ will come again. It is BOTH of these arrivals that are celebrated on the Sundays prior to Christmas each year. This Advent, we will journey through the nativity story by listening to four messengers - Joseph, Mary, the wise men, and the shepherds. Each receives a message that changes their lives, and each one responds in a way that helps carry the message forward. Their witness reminds us that the message of Christ still moves through people willing to hear, trust, and go. Their stories invite us to consider how God is using us to carry the message of Christ through our own lives and actions. December 21 Shepherds (Luke 2:8-20) WHERE IS THE MONTEREY APP? In it’s place, we redesigned the Mon-terey website to provide the same easy access to your favorite information, include the Weekly Bulletin, Church Directory, Connection Card, Event Schedules, Giving, and more! (See the Quick Links menu tab). If you prefer the App experience, we recommend adding the web-site to your phone’s home screen. We’ll hear the story of Jesus read, share in communion, and worship together, ending with our church-wide candle-lighting. Invite your friends and family to join us!
