DECEMBER ADULT BIBLE CLASSES: PEACE IN THE SEASON OF ADVENT • December 7th & 14th, we’ll pause our regular Sunday lineup of Adult Bible classes and gather around five special two-week studies we are calling “Peace In The Season of Advent”. Each class will be exploring PEACE — the incarnational peace of Christ, in the midst of life’s chaos. • Each class will focus on a different aspect of peace in the Advent season, including: * “SIMPLICITY OR STUFF: ONLY ONE TAP AWAY” Led by Eric Opton * “PEACE ON EARTH, AND IN MY MIND” Led by Ashton Stewart & Julianna Robertson * “PASS THE ROLLS NOT THE FAMILY (UNLESS YOU ARE ON A DIET)” Led by David Fraze * “FAST PACED PEACE” Led by Lana Page * “SHALOM TO SHEPHERDS - AND TO US” Led by David Gray • Then on Sunday, DECEMBER 21ST, join us for an ALL-CHURCH BRUNCH POTLUCK during the Bible class hour — a time to celebrate, connect, and share the peace of Christ together! Advent is a time of preparation and anticipa-tion. The word Advent comes from a Latin word that simply means “coming” or “arrival.” It could be the arrival of anything, but for Christians it is the word that describes the season that prepares us for the arrival of Christ. The arrival of Christ has two dimensions – the First Advent when Christ was born into the world and the Second Advent when Christ will come again. It is BOTH of these arrivals that are celebrated on the Sundays prior to Christmas each year. This Advent, we will journey through the nativity story by listening to four messengers - Joseph, Mary, the wise men, and the shepherds. Each receives a message that changes their lives, and each one responds in a way that helps carry the message forward. Their witness reminds us that the message of Christ still moves through people willing to hear, trust, and go. Their stories invite us to consider how God is using us to carry the message of Christ through our own lives and actions.
