IBBusinessandManagement.com

The website is designed by a highly experienced IB Business and Management teacher whose students achieve way, way above worldwide averages. Since adopting the student-centred approach to teaching and learning, student results continue to go from strength-to-strength.

The range of teaching and learning resources, approaches to teaching and learning, and assessment tools is the most comprehensive available, ANYWHERE, for the IB Business and Management course.

Page 6

These are the key IB Business and Management notes that identify and explain key concepts, demonstrate applications and ensure understanding of the learning objectives.

Each set of key notes relates to a specific IB Business and Management topic (e.g., 2.2 Organisational Structure).

Students can use the notes themselves or they can be used as a teaching tool, to be used by the teacher as a normal PowerPoint to explain and extend student comprehension of key themes.

Case studies are an outstanding method for the application of key tools and concepts to real world business examples. Students can use IB Business and Management case studies in a variety of ways.

Keep in mind that Paper 1 is all about analysing a pre-released case study. The more familiar students are with thinking about specific businesses and applying specific business concepts, the greater their achievement in the IB Business and Management examinations will be.

As extension reading, case studies provide valuable practical analysis - the chance to practice the application of newly learned information and concepts to really cement that understanding.

As small group work, case study analysis facilitates and enables the social construction of understanding.

Interactive quizzes are embedded for each and every topic. They are a fantastic self-assessment tool for students to use - assessment for learning.

Students are required to provide their name before commencing each test, and upon completion a certificate is given. The certificate has student name, topic assessed and score attained. Get your students to take a screen shot or snip of this certificate for your records. The bar is set high - an 80% mark is the benchmark pass rate!

The best informative videos on each topic are embedded right here in the website to maximise student learning time. And, very powerfully, PowerPoint presentations have been prepared and recorded by this very experienced and successful IB Business and Management teacher.

All topics are explained and key learning outcomes demonstrated. It is just like having your own highly experienced IB Business and Management teacher on hand whenever you need one! ESOL students find these learning tools especially valuable.

Sometimes concepts and definitions just need to be practiced (and practiced). All key terms and concepts are covered topic-by-topic and embedded right here. Think of all that time and effort saved in making your own flashcards. Time that could be spent actually memorising key content!

The flashcards used are really quite advanced. There are various options for learning, depending on the skill level acquired already, and some are even so advanced they will actually know which terms you need practice with and which ones you have already mastered - genius!

Completely embedded - right here.

A wide range of assessment activities cover each and every learning outcome. Once again, they are all embedded for ease of use. Questions are asked based on the IB Business and Management case study format, using the same command term question structures (hyperlinked for student convenience!) and all assessment activities and exam pracice questions assess just the one topic - unlike the leading IB Business and Management textbook.

Special password priveledges allow only teachers access to specially prepared topic tests, unit tests and mock examinations. The actual examinations and markschemes are made available to all as they are a very powerful teaching and learning tool.

It's not easy to get a 7 in the IB Business and Management course.

Only about FOUR per cent of all students manage to successfully achieve the maximum result.

Derek Burton, the site author, is very experienced and very successful in helping both his students and other teachers achieve top results - this is what he does!

Worldwide results show that only 4% of students (and teachers!) achieved a 7. We do much, much better than this.

Derek Burton is Head of the Commerce and Psychology departments at a leading independent IB World School.
