THE ABOMINABLE TWO SIMEON AND LEVI ARE BROTHERS THEIR SWORDS ARE WEAPONS OF VIOLENCE LET ME NOT ENTER THEIR COUNCIL LET ME NOT JOIN THEIR ASSEMBLY FOR THEY HAVE KILLED MEN IN THEIR ANGER AND HAMSTRUNG OXEN AS THEY PLEASED CURSED BE THEIR ANGER SO FIERCE AND THEIR FURY SO CRUEL I WILL SCATTER THEM IN JACOB AND DISPERSE THEM IN ISRAEL
THE QUIET EXPULSION OF SIMEON AND LEVI FROM ISRAEL Simeon and Levi were the second and third sons born to Israel These two sons were evil beyond repair They were deceitful blood thirsty murderers who were unwilling to change their ways An entire city of Shechemites who had an established and cordial relationship with Abraham the first patriarch of Israel was tricked by these two evil brothers who killed and looted the entire community These two blood brothers again plotted to kill their own brother Joseph and would have successfully carried out their evil had it not been for the timely intervention of Reuben and Judah Simeon and Levi are pure evil Israel had seen enough of these evil brothers so before he died Israel quietly disowned them and replaced them with the two sons of Joseph namely Ephraim and Manasseh Jacob made it clear he was not going to enter the council nor join the assembly of Simeon and Levi Jacob promised to scatter and disperse them in Israel Jacob was adroit in handling the dismissal of the evil brothers from his family He knew the threat they posed If Israel kicked them out violently he was very much aware what they would do
They would come back and murder the entire family of Israel so Jacob quietly replaced them and crossed them off his inheritance He however allowed them to be strung along as though they were still part of the family That was the only way to keep them from obliterating the rest of the family Let them think they are still part of the family There is ample evidence of this throughout scripture For this piece we will look at the book of Joshua as land was being divided among the tribes of Israel In Joshua chapters 13 to 21 All tribes receive an allotment except Reuben and Levi In Joshua chapter 19 1 9 it states The second lot came out for the tribe of Simeon clan by clan Their inheritance lay within the territory of Judah The inheritance of the Simeonites was taken from the share of Judah because Judah s portion was more than they needed So the Simeonites received their inheritance within the territory of Judah The above passage is a code word for borrowed from Judah In Joshua 14 3 4 it states but had not granted the Levites an inheritance among the rest for the sons of Joseph had become two tribes The Levites received no share of the land but only towns to live in with pasturelands for their flocks and herds
There are many passages where the code used to deny the Levites an inheritance is by simply saying The Lord is their inheritance Whenever Simeon and Levi are mentioned with an allotment in Israel it is simply a code for the double portion reserved for Joseph Simeon and Levi are simply dead to Israel after he disowned them in Genesis 49
WHAT HAPPENED IN GETHSEMANE During the night as our blessed Christ was preparing to give himself up to the alliance of the abominable two to carry out what they do best murder He prayed to the Father My Father if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it may your will be done The above words of the Savior have been misunderstood since the day they were spoken Our blessed savior was not asking the Father to take away the suffering He was about to endure The Lord was thinking about the finality of what the cross was going to represent The cross which the Lord was about to carry was going to permanently cross off Simeon and Levi and all who belonged in their camp from the inheritance of Israel promised by God The cross of Christ was going to be the final nail in the coffin of the evil pair the brothers who were cursed and disowned in Genesis chapter 49 5 by Israel Jesus knew in a few hours He was going to utter the words IT IS FINISHED With those words the fate was sealed for Levi Simeon and all those who belonged with them Jesus was greatly disturbed in His spirit over the doom awaiting these evil brothers The merciful Lord was asking the Father if there was anything they could do to save the murderous pair from everlasting doom Maybe give them another chance at repentance
The Father was not having it He had seen enough from Levi and Simeon There was nothing left other than to seal their fate What Levi and Simeon s father Jacob started in Genesis 49 5 when he quietly disowned them in Genesis 49 5 was about to be finalized with the cross of Christ With the cross Levi and Simeon along with all who followed them were going to be permanently crossed off from the inheritance of Israel The thought of their doom aroused great anguish in Jesus which made him pray more earnestly and his sweat was like drops of blood falling to the ground Luke 22 44
Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them Matthew 5 17 When Jesus spoke the words above he meant what He said Everything He did was in fulfilment of the Law and the Prophets How then does the Gethsemane experience fulfill what was written The answer is in 2 Samuel 18 33 In that scripture king David weeps for the death of his rebellious son Absalom whose incessant rebellion ultimately led to his self inflicted death on a tree Absalom was representative of the vileness of Levi and Simeon in that he committed every imaginable crime against his own father Yet when Absalom died on the tree David his father still mourned for him It is written The king was shaken He went up to the room over the gateway and wept As he went he said O my son Absalom If only I had died instead of you O Absalom my son my son What happened in Gethsemane was a replay of David crying for Absalom Jesus was crying at Gethsemane because the cross he was about to carry symbolized Absalom s tree on which Levi and Simeon who thought they were about to destroy Jesus were instead about to nail themselves to permanent
destruction and oblivion similar to what happened to Absalom and the thought of it greatly distressed the Lord What Love
Further proof that Jesus was not weeping for Himself at Gethsemane but for those who sought His hurt is found in Luke 23 28 As The blessed Lord carried his cross to be crucified a large number of people followed him including women who mourned and wailed for him Jesus turned and said to them Daughters of Jerusalem do not weep for me weep for yourselves and for your children
If there was any doubt who Jesus was weeping for at Gethsemane the passage above puts that matter to eternal rest
