Longstone Eco School Programme E Bulletin Sept 2016 Big Lottery Funding At the end of September we got the exciting news that our funding application for 10K has been approved We will use this money to create an Eco structured play garden Have a look at the initial plans to see what it is going to look like As well as the play structures Middle and Senior school pupils will be working with Lisburn and Castlereagh Council and the Belfast Hills Partnership to build animal sanctuaries within the garden Some examples include a Bug Hotel Hedgehog House and Bird Feeders World s Largest Lesson On the week beginning Monday 19th September the whole school participated in UNICEFs World s Largest lesson project These lessons promoted the United Nations Global Goals for Sustainable Development Classes looked at a range of topics including climate change poverty and injustice A big thank you to all the teachers who submitted their evidence hopefully all the video clips will be uploaded onto our website soon Have a look at what some of the classes got up to Composter A big thank you to Mr Fenn and Ben Tannock for building our composter Please read the leaflet that was sent round this week explaining what can be composted carefully
