Impacts inTrio SolutionsThe Foundation was a winner ofthe nonprofit “CreateAthon”where Trio Solutions had 24 hoursdedicated to their team focusingon a Foundation project. The Foundation won acompetitive grant from theCooper River Bridge RunFoundation to support health& wellness in DDTwo. Bosch Community Fund hostedtheir annual Charleston Regionmeeting at SHS to showcasetheir impacts in our schools.Cross-country students at all three highschools were given the opportunity toparticipate in the 1st ever Meatball Run5k through Foundation funding. Theevent is an extension of the SummervilleItalian Feast that generously donatesproceeds to the Foundation. PresenterExecutive Director, Ralph Hayes,presented at Tri-CountySTEMersion and the NationalAssociation of EducationFoundations ImpactEdconference. Partnered with SHS to havestudents engrave bricks that wereinstalled in front of the McKissickMuseum for purchasers to leave afootprint of their legacy. Philip BowenLegacy BricksCEFLSponsored America’s Got Talentcontestant and Appalachianmusician Philip Bowen toperform lessons with studentsand host a community show atSummers Corner PAC. SummervilleChristmas ParadeSC Ballet Sponsored SC Ballet toperform at Summers CornerPAC that showcased music anddancing from Motown.Ralph Hayes becomes the firstCertified Education FoundationLeader (CEFL) in SC after year-long process. Ralph also serves asa national board member for theNational Association of EducationFoundations. Hosted a float in the paradethat showcased district TOYwinners to gain communitysupport. the community
Impacts for ChesterSolar PanelsStudent ConferencesJoseph R. Pye Legacy Scholarship To enhance safety and security, the Foundationpurchased the district weapons detection K-9 -Chester. This creative and innovative resource helpskeep our campuses safe. Robotics Due to a generous donation from formerSuperintendent Pye, the Foundation has increased ourannual scholarship for future educators. Three $2000scholarship winners are selected, and students stillon-track to be an educator get $500 for years 2-4. Through a grant from Bosch, installed solar panels atFox Ridge Farm at Ashley Ridge to show how newtechnology can support agriculture and education. Our multi-year support of HOSA helped send themto the International Leadership Conference. Thisyear resulted in a second-place and fourth-placefinish at the International level. We were proud to send robotics students fromSummerville High, Ashley Ridge High, andSummerville Elementary to national competitionsto showcase their skills.
Supported STEAM integration for 4K students by placingFlex Farm Hydroponic Gardens from Fork Farms in 5 classrooms. Provided several PD opportunities includingresources for a summer 3rd-5th Educator MathAcademy, supporting speakers in schools, andfunding several teachers to attend and present atnational conferences. Partnering with our Department of Fine Arts,we showcased students in the community andprovided financial support for their initiativesincluding an artist in residence program. students and educatorsTo support teacher morale, we invested morethan $15k on first-year teachers, $15k duringTeacher Appreciation Week, and $10k for teacherincentives throughout the year.
