Changes to Project Description Project Goal

To implement mini IGA's to complete the fulfillment package for 11 Creative Cases.

Since the last update in May 2023, all agriculture component of the Jamaica Creative MIGA Fulfilment has commenced. Of the 11 recipients, four (4) were assessed for pig rearing and two (2) for crop production.  However, one of the recipients originally assessed for crop production received pigs instead due to land issues.

Building materials to assist with repairing four of the pig pens were delivered and all five beneficiaries received their pigs and along with the pig feed. To prevent spoilage, feeds are to be delivered in two tranches over the production cycle.   All 5 recipients have received the water tanks; photos of 4 of the water tanks are pending.

In addition, guttering materials, tank stand and materials to construct the tank stand have been delivered to the recipient who will benefit from crop production and she has built the tank stand and placed the tank atop it. The irrigation materials and farming inputs have been purchased and delivered (photos pending).

One of the recipient (Tracey Fowels) who was originally assessed to benefit from a crop production IGA has since changed where they have received pigs, repair materials for pig pen and some pig feeds. Based on feedback, this change was due to land issues, where the initial location assessed for Ms. Fowels was no longer available for crop production.

Though there was a change to the project description for this recipient, based on feedback the implementation remained within budget.

Tesimonial

Some of those who benefitted from the agriculture phase provided brief feedback for the support received. (photos of letters in file folder)

1. Shadar Dale

"My name is Shadar Dale and I am very grateful for your help. I am planning to extend the pig pen and build it bigger and let the pigs have piglets. It could help my children with their school and help with food (for the family). I am very grateful for the help that you have done for my family."

2. Sheldine Bartley

"I want to say, ‘thank you’ to the donors for the pigs. During the past four years I wasn’t doing anything at home [signifying that she was unemployed].  This opportunity is making a big difference in my life as an unemployed and hard-working lady. I am planning to put out the woman pig to get young ones from her, so I can sell and keep the business going. Waking up every morning and seeing them is a joy. Also, my son is a fatherless child [Ms. Bartley is a single mother] therefore these pigs can help us to further his education."

3. Tracey Fowles

"I want to use this opportunity to thank the donors from Food For The Poor. I am grateful for the two pigs the donors have provided for me and my family. I really appreciate the two pigs because it has pushed me further. Once the pigs get old enough to kill, I will sell the meat and bank [meaning to save with a financial institution] some of the money that I earn and use the rest to buy and raise more pigs. I really appreciate the two pigs and I want to say a big thank you to the donors. May God continue to bless you and may your store basket never empty and may God keep you safe. Thank you and love you all."
