In 2024, Theatre Collingwood made the decision to tacklea full production with the holiday family musical Alice inWonderland: The Panto, which ran throughout the monthof December. I am humbled and grateful to say that it wasa great success, selling out across the 14-performance runand creating many cherished memories along the way. This show was accomplished using 100% local professionaland community talent, from conception of the project rightup until completion. A major driving force behind was theknowledge that it would create an incredible opportunity forthe children in our community to be a part of a full-scaleproduction right here in their hometown. 12 young actorsfrom our after-school programs made up two rotating casts, each taking on seven full performances each. They sang, they danced, they acted, they laughed, and they workedwith passion and dedication to achieve something truly special. I am incredibly proud of thework that they did, and continue to be inspired by what I witnessed. The experience of Alice really shone a light on the quality of the talent that exists right herein Collingwood. We are sitting on a treasure trove of talent and professional experience inour own community, and I am grateful to work alongside some of these inspiring people. The Arts is an Ecosystem: artists hired to participate in Alice are now working as instructorsfor our Adult and Senior Education workshops and courses as well as continuing onwith our youth programs. Knowing what these extraordinary arts workers have to offerand knowing what our students have to gain propels me forward as I explore the infinitepotential that exists within our community. In 2025, we are pouring this same energy into all of our Arts Education Programs. It iswildly gratifying to watch our Adult and Senior students take chances on themselves andreap the rewards time and time again. Our TC Young Creatives Program will continue toevolve and grow. We eagerly look forward to a future filled with opportunities for artistsand students of the arts to shine.Anne RaciunasAssociate ProducerTheatre CollingwoodA MESSAGE ABOUT ARTS EDUCATION FROMANNE RACIUNAS12       705-445-2200   THEATRECOLLINGWOOD.CAThe HenningFoundationAges: 8-12Cost:$275drama campmarch breakUnleash yourimagination

Home At LastI left Newfoundland more than 30 years ago. I was 17 and my mother cried more at the airport than I’d ever seen her cry before or since. “I’m losing you,” she said.I told her that I’d be home in a year. That’s how long my entrance scholarship to the University of Ottawa was good for. Then my grand Canadian adventure would end and back to the Rock I would go.Shortly after my plane landed, I met a girl. A year later, the scholarship got renewed. Then I got a job. Then me and that girl had some kids...And then, sure enough, mom was right. Somehow, I’d left home for good. But home had not left me. When I started writing music - inspired by the lakes, woods and history of my adopted province of Ontario – I found that I was still sifting lyrics, rhythms and stories through my Newfoundland DNA. Juxtaposing my island roots on these new Ontario experiences unleashed an exhilarating wave of creativity that I’ve been riding ever since, singing and telling musical stories like “Tom Thomson’s Wake” and “100 Years from Now” with my co-creators in the Shipyard Kitchen Party band across this great province. Everything that Shipyard Kitchen Party has tried as a creative group has first been tried in Collingwood. This community has nourished, promoted and indelibly influenced all of our work. So, when it came time to develop a new show that paid tribute to my old home, where else could we debut it but here in our adopted home? And what institution could be better counted upon to help hoist it from page to stage than Theatre Collingwood? We are honoured and grateful to be one of the countless artists that have benefitted from Theatre Collingwood’s mission to create and promote works of live entertainment in this community. Through its education programs, festivals and theatre seasons, Theatre Collingwood is doing absolutely vital work in these uncertain times. It is allowing us to create; to sing; to tell the stories that make Collingwood, Ontario and Canada special and that make us proud to call them “home”.MESSAGE FROMJASON MURPHY1318 21

28 29MESSAGE ABOUT VOLUNTEERING FROM LINDA MILTHORPEI’m proud to be part of this wonderful organization, where I serve as Box Office Administrator and Outreach & Volunteer Coordinator. My journey with Theatre Collingwood began many years ago as a volunteer. I spent countless hours helping out behind the scenes and loved every minute of it. Eventually, I joined the team part-time, and now I am thrilled to be working here full-time. Theatre has been a life long passion of mine. One of my greatest joys has been bringing my nieces and nephews to see shows as gifts throughout their childhood — it was a way to share my love of the arts and create memories together.I’ve always believed in the importance of the arts to bring joy to our community, to connect people, and to expand our imaginations. That’s what motivates me every day to help Theatre Collingwood thrive. Live theatre has a special way of bringing us together, and it’s incredibly rewarding to be part of making that happen. In my role as Volunteer Coordinator, I have the pleasure of working with an amazing group of dedicated volunteers. Whether ushering at performances, selling raffle tickets, chaperoning camps, helping in the office, or distributing posters, our volunteers are truly the backbone of our company. Their skills, time, and ideas are invaluable, and I am so grateful for their contributions. We are always looking for more helping hands to join our volunteer family. If you have some time to spare and a passion for the arts, I would love to hear from you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out and get involved — it’s a fantastic way to meet new people and support local theatre. With thanks,Linda MilthorpeBox Office AdministratorOutreach & Volunteer Coordinator Theatre CollingwoodBECOMEA VOLUNTEERWE’D LOVE TO HAVE YOU!
