I am incredibly proud of how our residents, city departments, and emergency services responded. The communication was swift, and our collective efforts ensured that Florissant emerged strong, united, and ready to move forward. There are several proposed street projects on Florissant maintained streets for 2025. Major street projects, which will be complete pavement and sidewalk replacements, will include Mercury Drive, St. Maurice, St. Ronald, and Durwood for a total estimated cost of $1,393,927. The city is also planning to do micro surfacing repairs to over 48 streets in 2025 for a total cost of $894,704. The complete list of these planned streets will be available on the city website. There are also several projects in the planning stages that the city will be utilizing federal funds on. On these projects, the federal government pays 80%, and the city is only responsible for 20%. These projects include St. Denis Phase I & II, Mullanphy, St. Catherine, and Patterson Rd, for a total dollar amount of $10,185,404. Projects are also planned on several county and state-maintained roads, including Washington, New Florissant, New Halls Ferry, Charbonier (etc.).The Parks Department also has a lot of new projects this year, including the new bandshell at Ferdinand, a new maintenance shed at Ferdinand, adding Sport Court at the Eagan rink, new dugouts at Ferdinand, LED light upgrades to Koch fields 1 and 3, street soccer court at Koch, new retaining wall landscape at the golf course, new flooring in the golf clubhouse, regrading multiple fairways at the golf course, Great Rivers Greenway Sunset Trail expansion to Koch Park, and creating a Master Plan for Parks Department. Looking ahead, there are many events to look forward to in the coming months. Be sure to mark your calendars for Document Shredding Day on April 26th, a great opportunity to securely dispose of personal documents. Our annual Valley of Flowers Festival will take place from May 2nd-4th—an event that celebrates the beauty of our community with fun activities for all ages. And don’t miss the Hispanic Festival on June 28th-29th, which will be a vibrant celebration of culture, music, and food.I look forward to seeing you all at these exciting events, and I encourage everyone to continue working together as we make Florissant a stronger, even more connected community.Mayor LowerUpcoming Events: • Valley of Flowers • Summer Camp

Whether you're heading to the beach or the mountains, make sure your home stays safe while you're away! Follow these tips to protect your property:• Hold Your Mail & Packages – A full mailbox or packages on your porch can signal that no one is home. Place a hold on deliveries or ask a trusted neighbor to collect them.• Use Timers for Lights & Electronics – Set indoor lights or a TV on a timer to give the appearance that someone is home.• Lock All Doors & Windows – Double-check that all entry points, including garages and basement windows, are secure before leaving.• Avoid Social Media Announcements – Save vacation posts for when you return.
