We give them a summerfull of fun and smiles.Our camps take place in both Springfield YMCA branches. Here campersenjoy full basketball courts, pools, soccer fields, a gymnastics studio &playgrounds. Camp Wa-Kon-Tah is a traditional camp located on LakeSpringfield with 26 acres of beautiful space to explore. Bus options areavailable from branches to Camp Wa-Kon-Tah. Y campers also travel tosurrounding neighborhood parks, educational, and historic sites. We offer a variety of options for your camper to fill their summer with funand interesting experiences - Like Super Hero Training Camp one week,Edible Engineering Camp the next, Soccer or Gymnastics Camp anotherweek, or morning tennis camp add on to their weekly camp.

Camp Wa-Kon-Tah is a traditional day camp experiencefor kids entering grades 1st-4th. Campers are split into age groups and explore our 26-acre lake-side property while enjoying archery, fishing,canoeing, hiking, science, crafts, and sports. Specialty Camps are new for 2025 at both YMCAbranches. These camps are for kids entering 1st-4th grades andare designed to be progressive, week-long camps thatfocus on a featured interest. SUPER HERO TRAINING CAMP: Campers develop super hero skills on theYMCA Ninja Wall & Ninja Obstacle Course, and meet some Springfield superheroes. Kids will create their own costumes and complete many teammissions. Whether they’re a fan of flying, super strength, or mind-bendingpowers, there’s something for every aspiring hero at this “Super” Camp.STARS ON STAGE: Calling all class clowns. Be comedians, actors andperformers this week while enjoying an exciting mix of theater games,improv exercises, & performances. Campers will entertain parents on Fridaywith a talent show. EDIBLE ENGINEERING: Campers will be challenged to think as culinaryengineers as they build cars out of pantry ingredients and construct solarpowered ovens. They’ll use food science to make candy crystals, force sodaeruptions, and so much more.CREATIVE CAMPER: Channel your inner artist. Campers will paint, createand craft their way through the week and meet a few local artists. They’lldive into a world of creativity, exploring various forms of artisticexpression and discovering their unique talents. They'll showcase theircreative talents with a performance for YMCA members to see.GAMES GALORE: Your kids will enjoy a world of fun, play, and friendlycompetition. Each day focuses on a different type of game, ensuringcampers never get bored. They’ll design and test their own physical games,board games, guessing games, tech games, and compete in a camp-widetournament. ICKY STICKY: Grab your lab coat, gloves, and goggles. Each day will be filledwith experiments, explorations, and discoveries. Our messy scientists willlearn to make magnetic slime, lava lamps, baking soda volcanos andelephant toothpaste. We're saying yes to the mess.GREEN THUMBS: Young gardeners and nature enthusiasts embark on aweek-long adventure filled with soil, seeds, and sunshine. Campers willhave a planting party, learn about bees and bugs, meet some MasterGardeners, taste fresh produce and make garden art.HISTORY DETECTIVES: Investigate mysteries in our history. Youngdetectives will find clues and solve mysteries through the week. The weekwill conclude by campers creating a Wax Museum exhibit to display theirnew knowledge - they will reenact and tell stories of influential people ofthe past.BLAST FROM THE PAST: Young time travelers embark on an epic journeythrough history this week. Campers will hunt fossils, create a historicalmural, have a decade dress up day and dance at a groovy Disco. Hop aboardthe YMCA time machine.CONSTRUCTABLES: Kids transform cardboard boxes into forts, vehicles,robots and cities. They'll sketch out their ideas, create blueprints, and learnhow to turn their visions into reality. From Lego skyscrapers to cardboardcastles, the campers will proudly present their masterpieces at the Y onFriday.SHOOT FOR THE MOON: Get ready for liftoff. Join us for a week of high-octane fun, adventure,and camaraderie.ANIMAL PLANET: Campers get a behind-the-scenes zoo tour, meetzookeepers, and observe zoo animals up close. Kids participate in teamchallenges to compare their strength to a bear and their voice to a lion's roar.They’ll also visit a farm. WATER PARK WEEK: Who doesn't love lazy rivers, massive slides, water tubes,and cannonballs? Join us for a week filled with water parks & water play, allday long. Camperswill spend this week learning, touring, and cheering for our hometown teams. They’ll play sports of all sorts - soccer, basketball,volleyball, pickleball and more. This week is perfect for sportsenthusiasts and team fanatics.SURVIVOR SKILLS: Shake off that city dust and get ready for a week ofadventurous, outdoorsy exploration featuring kayaking, rockclimbing, and hiking.
