March 3, 2025 On behalf of SISTERS, Incorporated, we are elated to welcome you to the 18th annual “Rosa Parks Women of Courage” Event. Rosa Parks, an honorary member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, lived a life of humility and service to all mankind. Mrs. Parks, with a single act of courage, changed the course of American history and become the “Mother of the Civil Rights Movement.” Rosa Parks is often mentioned, but rarely celebrated. We believe her legacy is worthy of the highest honor, and should be celebrated and shared with all generations. Therefore, when we celebrated the centennial of our sisterhood, we established this event as an annual tribute to preserve the legacy of our beloved sister. This year, we are honoring three women and one organization whose lives and mission exemplify humility and service to all mankind. Our 2025 honorees: Rosalind Alston - Twin Cedars, Dr. Trikella Nelson – Muscogee County School District, and Bobbi Starr - Micah's Promise. This year’s Carolyn G. Randolph President’s Award goes to Ashley Williams - Enrichment Services. Women in child advocacy play a crucial role in our ever-changing society. Their presence and contributions are essential in speaking up for the best interest and rights of children and young people. We honor them for their service and we challenge them to remember that “one person can change the world.” Through your support of this event, we will provide higher education opportunities for our First-Generation Scholar recipients, as well as other local high school and college students. Our opportunity to serve and give is the result of your continuous support. Thank you! “I have learned over the years that when one’s mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear.” - Rosa Parks Yours in service, Dr. Chasity Reese SISTERS, INC., PresidentAkear Mewborn Event Chairman

March 3, 2025 The women of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Gamma Tau Omega Chapter welcome you to the eighteenth annual “Rosa Parks Women of Courage” Breakfast. We, the members of Gamma Tau Omega Chapter are truly elated to help sponsor this event in collaboration with SISTERS, Inc. once again. Emulating Rosa Parks, a woman who was not afraid to stand up for her beliefs, the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® believe strongly in enriching young minds and encouraging life-long learning. These beliefs are among those that have sustained this organization for one hundred and sixteen years, and it is our goal to stay the course. We will continue our efforts to assist our youth in their personal development and educational endeavors, and to provide service and support to our community. Your generous support of this event affords us the opportunity to provide scholarships to high school students in pursuit of higher education and assists in the continued funding of the First-Generation Scholars Program. We always count it a privilege to have the opportunity to provide scholarships to deserving students in this community, and we are grateful for your assistance. In these times, it is crucial that we, as an organization, do our part to help our youth become productive citizens and leaders in this society. On behalf of Gamma Tau Omega Chapter, I would like to thank you for your generosity and for taking the time out of your schedule to join us today. Thank you for keeping the legacy of Rosa Parks alive and for helping us as we strive to always be of “Service to All Mankind.” Yours in service, Dr. Keisha Cook Dr. Keisha Cook, President Gamma Tau Omega Chapter

Rosalind began her career at the Muscogee County Department of Family and Children Services from 1984-1988. She initially worked in Child Protective services working in Family Preservation, Foster Care and Adoptions. As a Caseworker Senior, Rosalind had the responsibility of ensuring the safety and stability of vulnerable children. She conducted a thorough assessments of family situations, interviewing children, parents, and other relevant parties, and collaborated with law enforcement and other community resources to develop and implement interventions and case plans aimed at protecting the child while supporting the family unit to make the necessary changes to protect children and stabilize the home environment. As a Caseworker, Rosalind had to balance the complex dynamics of preserving the family and child safety, often working in challenging and emotionally charged environments. Within one year, Rosalind was promoted to Caseworker Principle and this experience fueled her calling to work with the challenges both children and parents face. After returning to Georgia, Rosalind had the opportunity to learn more about advocating for the needs of children and families with mental health concerns and went to work at Northridge Hospital, an acute and crisis inpatient stabilization hospital for children and youth. As the Intake Coordinator, Rosalind learned about mental health diagnosis common to children/youth and gained new skills working around therapist and psychiatrists and led the daily admissions meeting with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals in 1993 followed by a transition to New Horizon’s Community Service Board as the Intake Coordinator working with same group of professionals until 1999. In 2008, Rosalind became the Program Coordinator for the Chattahoochee CASA program. CASA is a national organization with state and local affiliates and focuses on recruiting, training and supervising community volunteers to advocate for the needs and best interest of children in foster care until permanency can be achieved. The program began with one staff and zero volunteers and has grown to a staff of 5 with over 85 volunteers. In 2017, Rosalind was promoted to the Director of Advocacy for Twin Cedars Youth and Family Services, Inc.

Bobbi L. Starr’s journey into advocacy began in 2009, when she attended the National Victims of Crime Conference in New Orleans and learned about the devastating reality of Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children (CSEC). This pivotal moment inspired her to focus her education and career on combating trafficking, advocating for victims, and pursuing solutions to eradicate this crisis. Ms. Starr earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology with a concentration in Crime, Deviance, and Society from Columbus State University, where she received the Academic Excellence Award and was named Sociology Student of the Year in 2014. She went on to achieve a Master of Public Administration in Criminal Justice, graduating summa cum laude. As a victim advocate and Prevention and Awareness Coordinator at the Sexual Assault Support Center of Columbus, Ms. Starr worked tirelessly to support survivors. She now serves as the Executive Director and co-founder of Micah’s Promise, leading the charge to address CSEC in the Chattahoochee Valley. Under her leadership, Micah’s Promise has built a therapeutic treatment facility for girls aged 12-17, focusing on the complex trauma experienced by survivors. Micah’s Promise partners with the Georgia Statewide Human Trafficking Task Force, where Ms. Starr actively contributes to efforts to keep youth safe and informed. In 2022, she was appointed to the Georgia State Expert Committee on Child Abuse, Sexual Assault, and Human Trafficking, representing the Chattahoochee Judicial District. She also co-chairs the committee’s Human Trafficking division. She is the proud mother of five sons and a dedicated member of Christ Community Church. Ms. Starr is also a child abuse and sexual assault survivor and brings her lived experience to her advocacy work.
