This past year was one of our best ever, with record-breaking membership, strong enrollments, and outstanding courses, events, and travel opportunities. Thank you for helping make it all possible. At the National Osher Conference this spring, I saw firsthand how OLLI at UNL stacks up—and I’m proud to report that we’re doing as well (and often better) than most programs across the country. As we move into a new year, we’re committed to keeping OLLI one of the most aordable programs in the nation. For the fifth straight year, we are not increasing membership or course fees.At the same time, we’re managing growth thoughtfully, planning to add a program assistant to help support our expanding membership and statewide programming. One area where we’ve seen significant cost increases is in producing and mailing the printed course catalog. In 2024–25, our catalog production and mailing costs rose nearly $4,000 over the previous year. Each printed catalog now costs almost $2.50. To help manage these rising expenses, we’re making a few changes to the printed catalog: Course descriptions have been reduced in length. The format will change slightly to utilize the page space better. A QR code will be added to the catalog so you can easily view full course descriptions, photos and artwork. We know how much many of you enjoy flipping through the printed catalog, and we’ll continue to oer it. But if you’re open to going digital, you’ll help us keep OLLI sustainable and aordable for everyone. We urge you to consider opting out of the printed catalog and using the full-color online version instead. To indicate this choice, select "Go Green" in your student profile in the online registration system.Thank you again for your enthusiasm and support. I can’t wait to see what we’ll discover together this year!Stay Curious,Bob Michl, DirectorOLLI at UNL4 Fall 2025 Term 1

The Geologic Record of Climate ChangeCarbon dioxide (CO2) is a greenhouse gas. Carbon has been cycling through Earth’s rocks, oceans, glaciers, plants, and atmospheres for hundreds of millions of years. Could “little ole humans” really be changing the Earth’s climate? Much of the CO2 emitted by volcanoes is captured by plants via photosynthesis and then returned to the atmosphere when those plants die and decay.
