Missed Pick Up? Please call Scraps directly at 720-807-0562The City of Edgewater partners with Scraps to provide composting pick upservices every Wednesday. Sign up with easy through the Scrap’s website:www.members.scrapsmilehigh.com/create-account/COMPOSTING IN EDGEWATERRECYCLING & COMPOSTINGWhile keeping materials out of our landfills is a major benefit ofrecycling, just as significant is the reductions in energy that resultsfrom not making new products. For example, using recycled aluminumcans to make a new can uses 95 percent less energy than making a canfrom virgin bauxite ore. By reducing energy used in manufacturing,we’re directly reducing carbon pollution.Applying compost to our gardens, yards, and farms keeps carbon out ofthe atmosphere and renews damaged soil. Soil stores three times morecarbon than plants, making compost an incredible sink (EcoCycle). Signup with the City’s partner in composting, Scraps, which providesresidential compost pick up to Edgewater residents every Wednesday.SUMMER WATER RULESWater during cooler times of the day - lawn watering is NOT allowed between 10am and 6pm.Water at most three (3) days per week.Do not irrigate while it’s raining or during days with high wind.Use a nozzle with a shut-off valve when using a hose. Do not waste water by letting it spray on to concrete or asphalt surfaces.Slow the flow: When you inspect your system, and find longer grass is affecting the spray pattern of oneof your heads, simply use scissors to trim the grass immediately surrounding the affected head. Protect our water supply by following these simple water rules from May - October: SPRING MOWING 101Tips for a healthy and water-efficient lawn:Lawnmower Tune up: A sharp blade ensures a clean cut to each grass blade, whichhelps fight off potential diseases. Longer is Stronger (and a weed prevention!): Deep roots are key to a water efficientlawn. Give your lawn a chance to develop long, healthy roots for the summer monthsahead. Wait until grass is at last 2 inches long before your first mow of the season!Avoid Mowing Wet Grass: Not only does wet grass prevent a clean cut, lawns mowedwhile wet are more prone to fungal disease.

Walking soccer is played just likeit sounds — players can only walk as they pass and kick theball around the pitch and try to get it into the other team'sgoal, and they must always have at least one foot incontact with the ground. The pitch is smaller than astandard-sized playing field, and the goals are shorter andsmaller. Perfect for community members aged 55+.
