With over 14 years of experience, Jenison Innovation Academy (JIA) provides world-class online and hybrid learning opportunities to the Jenison Public School community and the greater West Michigan region. With a student-centered focus, JIA offers opportunities beyond the traditional classroom creating a high-quality and supportive community of learning. Students are provided with personalized learning experiences, delivering high-quality instruction with flexible options. From fully online to blended courses, JIA prepares students to be successful in our dynamic world. ACADEMICS & CURRICULUM Providing exceptional instruction and support for students, 80% of JIAʼs educators hold advanced degrees. Experienced in the modality of online teaching and learning, JIAʼs faculty and leadership understand the importance of flexibility, individualization, and personalization for students. Faculty are based in West Michigan and available at our local campus in Jenison, Michigan. On-campus opportunities offered alongside JIAʼs online courses allow for core enrichment, in-person elective experiences, student support, hands-on learning, and social interaction with fellow JIA students and their families. In addition to their instructional assignments, each faculty member also serves as an Academic Advisor for a group of students, providing targeted support for grade levels and serving as the familyʼs primary contact at Jenison Innovation Academy. Jenison Innovation Academy offers over 100 courses, developed by JIAʼs highly-qualified educators and supported by experienced instructional designers. JIA K - 5 full-time students have the option of completing the entirety of their coursework at home via an online classroom, with in-person options for students that include hands-on experiences with their teachers and peers. All curriculum is developed by JIA teachers with all necessary books and offline materials provided. Teachers work in close partnership with parents to support each student and help them be successful. Students follow a personalized calendar with assignments and activities to complete throughout the week. Academic support and accelerated learning are provided both in-person and virtually. In addition to digital content and coursework, teachers host brief, yet meaningful, live daily virtual sessions with students and parents that are developmentally appropriate. ON-CAMPUS OPPORTUNITIES In-person learning is offered up to 2.5 days per week. This includes core enrichment activities that enhance online learning as well as Elective Experiences. Families may choose any number of on-campus options or none at all. Additionally, students may participate in JPS district opportunities, including performing arts, ACT (accelerated learning), and robotics. Grades K - 2 integrate elements of science and social studies into English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics courses, whereas grades 3 - 5 enroll in ELA, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies courses. Students may select two electives with options in Art, Music, Physical Education, Spanish, or they can opt for the in-person Elective Experiences, a weekly rotation of all four offerings taking place at our local campus. Each full-time elementary student is provided an iPad or Chromebook, along with mobile wifi connectivity, to access courses. THE PARENT CONNECTION The Parent Connection is a dedicated group of parents who meet monthly to collaborate with the school and support families. They provide valuable resources to help fellow parents support their JIA students. FIRST FRIDAY COMMUNITY DAYS On the first Friday of most months during the school year, JIA students and families get together for special events. Activities range from Field Day & Market Day to music performances, bowling & sledding outings, and an end-of-the-year ice cream social.

JIA Middle School promotes exploration for students in grades 6 - 8, while strengthening their understanding of the foundational principles of reasoning, critical thinking, and creativity. Students complete all their work online, with the curriculum and instruction provided by JIA. Students enrolled in the full-time program work from home but also have options for on-campus opportunities. Teachers work in close partnership with parents and students to help them be successful. Each grade level has an Academic Advisor to wrap around each student and build relationships. They engage in weekly synchronous live sessions for each course, along with Advisory, in order to connect with students in their grade. Each full-time student is provided a Chromebook, along with mobile wifi connectivity, to access courses. GRADES 6 - 12 SECONDARY OPPORTUNITIES Learning Center Staffed by JIA teachers, the Middle School and High School Learning Centers are open Monday-Thursday from 8:00am - 3:00pm for students to drop-in for assistance, to work in groups, or just for a change of scenery. Middle School Learning Center includes a daily schedule of activities, with rotations every 1 - 3 hours. In-Person Labs JIA teachers regularly invite students in grades 6 - 12 on campus for enrichment labs and hands-on opportunities throughout the year (science labs, math labs, PE workouts, etc.). Blended Schedule Options JIA students in grades 7 - 12 can take up to 2 classes in-person on campus at Jenison Junior High and/or Senior High. Personalized Pathways Tech Center, Work-Based Learning, and Dual Enrollment (earning college and high school credit) are a few of the personalized pathways that support interest-driven student choice, allowing each individual to build their own pathway and reach their specific career and/or college goals. Sports/Extracurricular/Clubs JIA students in grades 7 - 12 have access to JPS MHSAA sports, performing & fine arts, extracurricular activities, and clubs available in the district for their grade level.

JIA High School provides personalized learning experiences for students in grades 9 - 12 by delivering the highest quality learning opportunities with flexible options. Our committed senior high teachers believe in challenging students with high expectations that help them grow as critical thinkers and lifelong learners to reach their post-secondary goals. Our program features partnerships with multiple colleges and universities, providing a diverse range of courses to fit studentsʼ interests and academic goals. A standout feature of our dual enrollment program is our special partnership with Central Michigan University.

For students eager to embrace an academic challenge, the JIA Honors Academy offers an exciting opportunity to excel and grow. Participants engage in enriching activities, including semester projects, individual enrichment extensions, and presentations that showcase their knowledge and skills beyond core content. This learning approach combines multiple content areas with real-world contexts, with an emphasis on skill development within the following domains: ● Critical Thinking & Research ● Problem-Solving ● Communication and Interpersonal Skills ● Student Agency Each student receives guidance throughout their participation in the program and is assigned to an Honors Academy Advisor. An additional application is required for acceptance into the program. The application window is available annually and coincides with JIAʼs scheduling process. Homeschool Partnership students in grades K - 12 can choose up to three nonessential elective courses. As with all JIA elective courses, students have the option to add an in-person community partner experience to complement their online coursework. Elementary students may also choose our on-campus Elective Experience course. Elective courses can be taken with or without a community partner, as the optional learning experiences are supplemental to the online courses. Parents have access to digital content, ensuring they are actively involved in their childʼs educational experience. Parental support is an important factor in student success. JIA courses and technology are provided at no cost to the family.
